I saw an ad in the Gazette looking for 16U players for a summer showcase/travel team called the Maryland Senators.

Anyone have any information on the team? Is it new or existing? Manger(s) are?

There was only a Comcast email for inquiries. I've heard nothing back yet.

Formally called the Southern Maryland Senators. Coached by Rhinehardt Dallas, a first round pick of the Expos in 1972. Coach Dallas also works under LSU star and Southern MD native Ray Wright for his R.A.W. Skills company. This team has been extremely successful in the past having won a national championship in both 2000 and 2001, and also has qualified for the NABF tournament every year. The team was loosely affiliated with Chaney Enterprises American Legion team, but has severed all ties with this year. My nephew is an assitant coach for them part time. If you want I can give you his email and he can answer any questions you have concerning the team.

If unable to work with class act Chaney's Coach Glaeser, then you may want to recommend taking up something else!

Anyway, after some research, I found out that Brian Sweeney, of the Olney Pirates, is forming this Maryland Senator team, not Rhinehardt, although they share the same name.

I'm with you. Coach Ed is a good guy and terrific baseball coach.

I think it's Mark Sweeney who's trying to put
a 16U travel team together, since his younger son is that age.

Many players from the Olney Pirates will also be playing as a first year travel type team!

They may have use of a home field thru the OBGC as Mark Sweeney is the Pres. of the Olney Boys & Girls Club!
