A high school coach told me last night he heard there will not be a 18U Monarchs team next year. Only a younger team will be fielded. Anyone know if this is true?

Not true at all. The Monarchs will continue the program at 18U, however it is possible we are expanding the program to younger ages as well. Why would we collapse the 18U program after winning the NABF National title? We have in fact expanded the program to include a Fall team which has played in the JG Classic at the Potomac Nationals Stadium, at the UVA showcase, will be in Cary, NC at the Team USA complex, and Allentown, PA for our next two tournaments.

Congratulations to the Maryland Monarchs for winning the 2009 NABF Senior (18U) Division World Series played in Jackson, Mississippi.

Maryland Monarchs, in the championship game, beat
a very talented tournament host, the Jackson 96ers Blue. This was the hosts third appearance in the championship game in six years. It was the Monarchs first appearance in the championship game.

The Jackson 96er's Baseball Club began in 1978
and have developed into one of the top amateur programs in the south and continually produce some of the top teams in the country. The Jackson 96ers have won three NABF Senior Division World Series; 1994, 1996 and 2006 and were runner-ups in the 2002, 2005 and 2009 NABF Senior Division World Series. Some top notables include former Jackson 96ers such as Roy Oswalt (Houston Astros) and Curt Ford (St. Louis Cardinals),the first 96er to play in the MLB.

Congratulations also goes out to the MD Monarch players who made the 2009 NABF Senior Division All Tournament Team

1st Base- Mike Marsh
Outfield- Steven Jenkins
Pitcher & MVP- Brady Feigl
Pitcher- Eric Auman

This is the seventh year of the 18U Maryland Monarchs and as a summer amateur ball club.

I thought it seemed odd. They said you were going with only younger teams. Congrats on the big win!
