Congrats...Sounds like you all hit the ball pretty well. Who were the big hits.

Did you pitch by committee?

St John (DC) plays MSJ in a scrimmage on Saturday. Not sure when St John opens their season, but MSJ opens up on Tuesday, so I doubt Norton will throw whatever arm(s) he's planning on using opening day (vs Curley).

Al:

Mike Rozak and Connor Hoehn (So) pitched for SJ varsity. Everyone hit I was told.

Archbishop Curley was able to put up 2 HR though.

LJ Hose, a starting SJ freshman, is very strong at the plate and ALWAYS puts the ball in play. He's a player to watch. He plays 3rd and some outfield. Very fast with all the tools.

Ivor Hodgson (Sr) should put up some impressive numbers this year. He's an All-Met caliber player with pro caliber speed. A lot of programs want him, but he can't decide. Nice problem to have...Wink

For JV, Corey Beam and Johann Knee had a HR each for SJ. Scott Silverstien and Connor Sullivan were flawless on the mound.

It's very possible that for MSJ it's a scrimmage, however, on the SJ schedule, it's a regular season game, non conference of course.

Last year it was a scrimmage, but not this year, at least not for SJ.

Interesting...

SJ was only able to get in one scrimmage, and that was last week.

Let us know if you find out something different.

Regardless, it should be a great game.

Good luck...

You might be right Capital Baseball. I just assumed it was a scrimmage. You know what happens when you assume! Actually an actual game would be better for both teams.

I really like "LJ" as a player. He has tremendous potential, and will be very excited seeing him play when he becomes a Junior.

Saw Dematha play, and as always a very steady team who does not make many mistakes. I really like their lefty 1B and an lefty outfielder. Nick Rivers is another kid to watch there.

I was also impressed with aspects of Eleanor Roosevelt's team. They certainly have some potential. Tim Woodward, Sean Swetnam, and Evan Sipple impressed me at the plate, with McCants showed a lot of hustle behind the plate.

Dematha does have another solid team. I think it will come down to them and SJ again in the WCAC final again.

I do not hear much about O'Connell....They always seem to have a few good players. Any word on them?

What has happened to DJO baseball> Other than the his first year team in '04 that coach Hart inherited, has he ever been better than .500? Where was he a head coach before OC? I only heard of him in the travel leagues. Was he a youth coach before becoming the coach at OC?
