They sell this tool (hope the pic comes through) which is designed to put it on.

It costs around $50. The basic premise is to spread the cap open to fit over the fence. When we put ours on we just got our players and some screwdrivers. Put one kid on one side and another kid on the other side. They put the screwdriver inside the split and pull apart. You can get a third kid involved following behind pushing it down or let the two with screwdrivers use their free hands to push down as they go through.

Ok I have tried to put the pic in 3 times but for some reason I am not that smart. Might be the paint chips I ate when I was a little kid.

Here is the website for the tool (I hope)

That stuff is a lot easier to work with when it is warmed up a little. Lay it out in the sun (if you get a sunny day) if not and you can stretch it out of the weekend under the basketball bleachers or something it will help.

Also, if your fence is tall you can stand in the back of a pickup truck or use a ladder (if you don't mind moving it 434 times)....

That spreader tool is worth it.... good luck
