I think I might have one. I have read up on it and the worst case scenario is surgery. Do these things heal on their own? Its only been 2 days since when the pain started, but it hurts when i walk and when i run. I am thinking about waiting a couple more days to see if the pain persists but has anyone had one and, if so, what did you do?

Don't wait long. I've had a similar issue that required surgery a couple years ago after my high school career ended. Doctor told me I would be "good to go" to go back to normal activities in 2-3 weeks. I'd say it was closer to 4-5 weeks and even then it still bothered me occasionally.

Think about that.. possibility for delays and think about how long do you really want to miss conditioning or whatever else you might be doing right now related to baseball, football, basketball, whatever...

What did the doc say?

My son has 2 repaired sports hernias. First one at age 11, second one at age 12. It was a small incision, they put in a little titanium screen, and closed the incision with skin glue. The first time he was back playing ball 2 weeks after surgery. The second time, it was probably 3 weeks. Of course, that was before he was lifting or doing any really serious training. He's 15 now, has grown a lot, and everything seems to be fine. But I don't think it's something you want to ignore. The worst case scenario is painful and dangerous. Seems to me that now's the time to get the surgery so that you'll be ready in the spring.
