The link was not for self diagnosis but a common ailment in the area you described. Only an orthopedist can tell if it might be seperate from a tear by strength tests, MRI etc. If not treated, and not knowing what is the cause, it could lead to further complications. PT (the proper PT) is helpful. I would suggest if it feels uncomfortable to see a doc asap. Not taking care of it could set you back awhile.
