As of the past week, I've had some extreme pain in my back, and finally bit the bullet and went to my trainer. He told me that chances are I have a rib popped out of place. The next day, I went to the chiropractors, and sure enough, I don't only have one popped rib, but two. I got an adjustment immediately. Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how long did it take you to recover? I hope it's not long, I don't want to miss a game, I need as much work as I can get in as I just verbally committed to Adrian College. Thanks for the help!

A rib popped out of place? They are not really jointed, so how did they pop out of place? Roll Eyes

Rather than your chiropractor or trainer, go to a sports medicine orthopedist. You may have a torn muscle, or torn connective tissue between ribs, or something more serious. My son had a torn oblique, which is in the ribcage area on the side. The usual heal time is about 6-8 weeks for torn muscle tissue. No rotational work that moves the trunk-- no throwing, no batting, etc. If you don't let it heal, you risk a worse injury and you also will not play well until it does heal. Sorry, no quick fixes. Just time to heal. His physical therapist gave him specific stretches and light workouts to heal and strengthen the area, and also did electrical stimulation to encourage the tissue to knit correctly.

Go to a sports medicine specialist!!! Find out for sure.
