My son had labrum surgery last December and was wondering would changing his arm slot on throwing help diminish some stress. HE IS NOT a pitcher, he is a 1B.
He has an over the top throwing motion, almost quarterback-like.
Does anyone have any experience with this topic?
I had heard some go to a 3/4 slot

When I was in High School I started to have severe shoulder problems throwing "over the top" and switched to a low 3/4 armslot. I later found out that this was my natural armslot, and the shoulder problems subsided. Although I cannot guarentee that your son will feel any better throwing this way it may be worth a shot just to see how it feels. I figure he isn't going to be making many throws anyways at 1st beside being the cut off man. So if throwing 3/4 helps I say go for it. Over the top motions cause alot of grind on the shoulder, but the lower you get the more problems potentially for the elbow.
