As of this afternoon the Bosox have 72 hours to reach agreement with Curt Schilling on a contract--if they do he comes to Boston and Caey Fossum and prospects head to Arizona--the two teams have apparently struck a deal

Word is he wants a two year extension at 30 million from the Red Sox but there is also a story circulating that he will take a two year extension at 24 million if it is the Yankees who deal for him

Should be interesting how this plays out

Well there they go...
Luccino and Henry trying to
buy a championship again...

Sounds like he has 2 requirements:
1. The extension
2. The manager named

Seems like Management has done a 180 on their promise to re-build the farm system...This deal would move 5 young players, including 2 young LHPs...

Gee, Iguess " Georgie Porgie " and "Teddie Boy" Turner shouldn't have started buying up players and penants years ago, now the "nerve" of the Red Sox owners trying to do the same. Maybe the Red Sox have smart people running the club now, and George and his "followers" are running scared. How dare these people try to compete with Georgie ?

A lot of things that I have not gotten over. One is that the Red Sox were a better team than the Yanks in the playoffs, but the Yanks had a better manager. Little blew it, not the team. Just like MacNamara blew it, not Buckner. All year long MacNamara was replacing Buckner in the late innings with Dave Stapelton , excellant defenseive at 1b. Only the " watch the playoff only game fans " and a few unknowlegible bandwagon jumpers blame Buckner. Sure, I admit the sox front office has did a lot of bonehead moves, for years. Now , however, they have a young 26 yr. old G.M. that is very good at what he does, and that is starting to make Georgie and others up. So, what is money to George, just buy 2 or 3 players at each position and 6 0r 7 pitchers , ( who needs a G.M. )and talk about the ones that worked out , not the bum deals. Happy Thanksgiving , everyone.

I agree that Theo has been fun to watch operate.
I don't agree, however that one person is ever to blame...as you suggest in the "Buckner" series.

If you disect that series, and even that game, there were many missed opportunities along the way...

How has that worked out for you? Being a Red Sox fan in the heart of Stamford??? biglaugh

Chill, I agree that kind of money on 4 players is ridiculous but I really don't see Manny being here next year. The Sox will have to eat some of his salary but it will not be for what they are paying now. Just heard an interview with Schilling on WEEI. He will be a breath of fresh air her in Boston.

If they are to crack the "EVIL EMPIRE" they will have to spend as the EMPEROR does--- do not be surprised to see MANNY stay in Beantown what with a new manager and Schilling in town--- they only need then to get a ClOSER

Should be a lot of baseball fun between NY and Boston in '04

The heck with the Yankees and the Red Sox.

What about my Mets?

Rumors are they will get Jim Palmer, Ron Guidry and maybe even Tom Seaver.

That - plus a signing of Dave Winfield and Orlando Cepeda will get us back on track. LOL

Ohh - to be a Mets fan. Its painful.
