We do not have a summer team so I can safely say this without accusations of bias I think the best way is a team that travels outside "the little pond" that the kids know---as a HS coach you will get kids coming back that have more maturity as both young men and baseball players I do not think legion and babe ruth give the kids this kind of experience

sr babe can be good baseball in some parts of nh, concord comes to mind. legion is for the most part better and if a coach had a mind to he could travel the fringe states very easily. but not enough pitching is usually the demon. do your guys play in derry,or nashua?

For those assuming that Legion is better baseball than Senior Babe Ruth, have you been to enough games in each league to make that distinction? Or better yet have you played in both. I have and let me tell you that there are more factors than Legion vs. Sr. Babe. I have heard that not one high school coach in NH would tell you that Sr. Babe is better than or even equivalent to Legion. That is simply not true, inquire of Souhegan, Merrimack Valley or Bow's high school coaches. And for the record Concord's Big Blue and NH Centrals All Star teams can play with any Legion team in the State, both of which play schedules 20+ games. I personally have played both, and the Senior Babe Ruth league I was in was as competitive if not more competive than the Legion league. In my opinion the overall quality of baseball played in NH has decreased over the past decade, video games, tv, internet and other options have gained the attention of our players. I feel that the only way to improve the overall quality of the baseball played in New Hampshire is to get the players when they are younger 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. As for the comment about traveling outside of this "pond", I am in agreement. I have always brought my teams to outside states, particularly southern Mass because in my opinion they take their baseball more seriously. But you want to humble NH Players take them down to Florida.

granite i agree about the state of our baseball. and you are really trying to change that. i am very impressed with your fall program. you are doing a great job, maybe we can try a little harder down our way. as far as the baseball in the seacoast. sr babe isn't very good here. and the legion just doesn't have enough horses. due to the teritory rules of both leagues.geographicly we are backed up to the ocean on one side, and another state on the other. so it's slim pickins for talent. people have to be informed as to what's around their area.

20dad, you are from the seacoast, are you a hs coach or parent? I would really like to see our program extend to the seacoast, however I did not receive much interest. We did play an All Star game against the SCFL varsity division this past October. I am open to suggestions. I want to see more NH ball players move on to the college level.

i'm a parent of two boy's,but they are older. i have coached rec,and fall ball for too long.i stay active in our community baseball. we have the scfl and kids work out at usa training, but we lag behind where we should be. spend to much time arguing over who knows more about baseball. we are seeing more good players, not where we should be but creaping forward. i agree we need to do more to get kids to play beyond hs.

20Dad, do you think we could get some players from the seacoast interested in playing in our fall program. No where else in the state will hitters be facing varsity quality pitchers, many of which are their schools #1 for an entire game. That is also true of the quality of hitters we provide the pitchers an opportunity to work against some very talented hitters.

i have been asking around about your offer. to early to tell, but i'm hearing the football players dads whine about wanting an off day. we played in mass. for years last 2 local. it is easier but not allways better. i am interested in your outlook. and agree we need to get better. maybe we can do something.

The Granite State Baseball Association has opennings for 13 year old players, 14 year old players and 15 year old players. In addition we have been contacted by the Central Senior Babe Ruth League which has said it might have teams looking for a few players. Please be advised that all players must try out for these teams and the GSBA and CSBR leagues can not promise any spots on rosters to anyone. For more information contact mcampo@granitestatebaseball.org.
