See press release below. Many of NE's top college and pro prospects will be at Bentley College tomorrow and Thursday. Two teams will be picked to play in All-Star game on Sunday morning at Fenway Park.

For parents and coaches with 2011 and younger players looking to play in college this may be an event you want to get invited to in the future. This is the first year of this event and its a joint effort with Boston Red Sox and NY Yankees and its under the direction of AnneMarie Yastrzemski (Carl's daughter-in-law). There are supposed to be many college and pro scouts in attendance.

Just to let you know, some of the players who will be playing in Fenway (alternate with Yankee Stadium) are picked ahead of time based on their summer performance (my kid is one who will be playing at Fenway this Sunday). Don't hold me to this but I am pretty sure Bryce Harper will also be playing in Fenway on Sunday. This event is also a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association.

Here is more information:

May Come True!

Waltham, Ma-The Summer Rivalry Baseball Classic Tournament kicks off this week at Bentley University, August 12th and 13th and will culminate at Fenway Park on Sunday August 16th at 10am.

The mission of the tournament is give kids from New England an opportunity to be seen and evaluated by professional coaches and scouts in order to advance their potential at the college level and beyond.

Approximately 80 of New England’s top high school baseball prospects will be divided into four teams. The teams will be coached by professional scouts. Each team will play three games at Bentley University. After the three games, an All-Star team will be selected by area Red Sox scout Ray Fagnant and New York Yankees scout Matt Hyde. The next two days at Bentley he is playing for the Navy team. I hope he can pick up a bat, he got home this morning from Logan at 3 am - his flight from LA was delayed. He has to be at Bentley by 7:30 am tomorrow. My guess the time change is going to slow him down a bit- oh well we will see what he is made of?

Not sure about Fenway - one team will be in Red Sox uniforms and one in Yankees. I think they are going to draft them on teams from what he told me.

I think he would wear a tutu as long as he gets to play a bit at Fenway (my guess is 3 innings each player, one AB or maybe 2).

The Area Code Tryouts were an excellent event to get in front of College Scouts and Pro Scouts. My son has had some excellent schools contact him as well as some pro scouts. Having the opportunity to play at Fenway would be great but he was already successful with scolarship offers to excellent DI schools in the Northeast.

This was a very nice program, I may go back for a little bit tomorrow too. Good group of college coaches and scouts from all three levels. Good talent there from around the north east.

i was at fenway this morning ,what a cool thing for these kids to do. playing at fenway, wow. it don't get no better than that.

other than the fact that mike montville was a yankee today.( that kills me to say) he has had an unforgetable summer.

i'm not sure he really understands this, but he has made his community very proud of his accomplishments. he's a great individual as well. i'm proud to know him.

If it's true that we're all here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

This was one of the coolest events son has participated in. He was fortunate to be a Red Sox for a day and play in Fenway park.
What an awesome experience, and a great family day.
The talent was impressive, the game fun and the atmosphere exciting. Must have been 300-400 people in the stands too!
Son's HS coaches even came up for the game...and of course....sat in the Francona family seats Smile
