Joseph Lewis Sr passed away tonight at age 102. He was well known in the Cape Cod League and worked with several professional baseball organizations including Detroit, Texas and others for almost 75 years. He was a cherished and well loved father, grandfather and great grandfather. His sense of humor, love of children, generosity and great knowledge of baseball history will be greatly missed.

One of his children was Skip Lewis (Joe Lewis Jr.) who coached Chatham in the Cape League from 1963 to 1969. He coached Thurman Munson on the championship team. Mr. Skip Lewis was an All American pitcher at Duke in 1952 and 1953 and played in the Tiger minor leagues from 1953 to 1957. After the Cape he managed for the Tigers in the minors from 1970-1981 and scouted for the Tigers until his death in 1996.

His son Tim has published a book about Skip Lewis's life.
