My friend Rickey Bowen went to Summiton Christian Academy near Jasper. He now attends Mississippi St. and pitches.

I haven't spoke to him since the summer...
does anyone know how he's doing?

I talk with the MSU coaches often. The last time I spoke to them they were pleased with Ricky's progress so far.

Ricky will be a redshirt this season. He had a slight elbow strain in the fall that kept him off the mound. He has fully recovered and is working now to build more strength and size. He is now 90+ on this fastball and is getting solid command of his off speed stuff. Had some back spasms early in spring that slowed progress but is now past that. He has already been assigned his summer team in Virginia and is anxious to get regular work from the mound. State wants him to add about 20 pounds to his thin 6'3" 178 lb frame.
Is known as a very hard worker, comes in early, stays late, asks for extra. His biggest problem is that he expects every pitch he throws to be perfect. Has to learn to let it go. Also found out last week that he is one of the youngest pitchers in Division 1 of the NCAA. Turned 18 after coming to school in august.
