No...Been in the works for three years, but after a recent incident over two recruits who signed pro contracts Coach Wells voluntarily retired.
Hopefully a replacement will be named soon. Front runner is a former Alabama player and coach..Bobby Pierce at Troy State. Likely, UT will now have to deal with him now as a SEC competitor, rather than as their coach. Things have a way of working out for good people and Bobby is one of those good people.

Jim Gatewood is our coach @ McKinney North. He got out of the college ranks to spend more time with his 2 younger daughters ages 6 & 10 (approx.) so I don't see him wanting to move back to Alabama any time soon. That's just a hunch on my part though. He's a great man by the way, and a great coach.

BamaBomber....could you please explain to me why 2 recruits signing pro contract caused Wells to retire? If they are recruiting top players, isn't that the risk they take, like UNC did with those 3 pitchers?
Who besides Danny Danielson signed so far? I know that Hunter has not signed as of yet.
If this is true, did that has anything to do with Wells recruiter leaving the school?
Why do you also say it has been in the works for 3 years?
