I'm so tired of seeing the snowflakes on the homepage of this great website but I guess it is too early to remove them. I'm trying to get pumped for my son's first HS game scheduled for this saturday but I think the chances of playing are slim and none. He is a pitcher and is slated to start game one. I am envious of those that don't have to deal with our lousy weather. Good luck to all.

Thanks rosy, gl to your son and his team also...My son is supposed to play Sat. also, but as you stated, chances: slim to none.
Don't you think it makes for a tougher player
than those who have consistently great weather?
(not that I wouldn't give my eye teeth to have been born and raised in Fla or Calif or AZ!!)

Hey, cheer up!!!!

It is supposed to dry out tomorrow and be dry on Saturday with southwesterly winds raising the temperature to low 50's.

We're supposed to play at Brother Rice.

Does anyone know if they "burn" the infields at Brother Rice to get rid of the moisture and the frost out of the ground? If they do, we should play!

Let's play 2 for everyone and Ernie!

2ndbasemom, I certainly hope that this cold and sloppy conditions will make my son tougher, but what I know for sure is that his spring uniform consists of $50 UnderArmour Cold Gear tops, Underarmour long-johns and plenty of pocket held hand warmers. It is like dressing for a football game. However, this is really nothing new, this is what spring baseball is for us year after year. It'll get better!

itsrosy.....

I'd strongly urge you to have "your" UnderArmor, North Face, whatever.... gear on as well. Lots and lots of layers, and throw a windbreaker in between as well. Keeps the wind from really cutting through.

Oh, and don't forget the head wear, mittens and wool socks!!!!

Remember, keep moving!!! manrunning

Boomer, I've been around a while and you're sooo right. When the order was placed for the cold weather gear,it was for my son and myself. The only difference are the sizes! Even my wife was included this year. Have a great season.

I saw Hinsdale Central beat Stagg HS today, both teams looked a bit rusty, 1st time on the diamonds for most teams here. I talked to a college coach from Florida, he says, he loves kids from the north, they play anytime. So 2nd base mom, yes they do understand that. i saved the e mail. 2nd base mom, Brett made a nice play in the field today. Tell Bart, Laidlaw says hello.

Absolutely beautiful day at Brother Rice.

Brother Rice beat Lincoln Way East in a doubleheader...2 run walk-off home run in the 1st game 10-8; and, 3 run walk-off home run in the 2nd game.

Congrats to the Crusaders!

#29, a little #9 hitter centerfielder in the first game drilled a no-doubt-about-it home run to tie the game (in the first game) and then #2, Fazy a little left-handed hitter, hit a wind-blown flyball that carried and carried out to left field for the game winner.

In the second game, a left handed hitter, drilled a line shot to right center (also a no doubter) to win that game.

More errors in both games than a freshman's typing exam. It wasn't pretty.

Virtually none of the parents in the stands couldn't understand why a particular player/pitcher wasn't brought in to close both games.

Just curious what this quote means...a Rice player or a LW player?

The third baseman from LWE, #24, should have been brought in to close both games.

sTICK...This is our first day of bad weather. Sunny and 65 for the past 10 days. (in our minds).

Joliet Herald News and the Daily Southtown are the likely papers.

So far just like last year...walks and hbp in key situations.
