I know Marc is freshman from the Chicago area, I was just wondering what is his background. I know physical stuff (from teammates) fastball 87-88 range, competes, coaching staff expects a lot. He came in pretty high on the coaches list. Was rumored to be starter this Sunday vs. SMS but was rained out. But where did he come from, was he highly touted, who are the Midland Redskins. On his bio on the Creighton site it said he had 45 RBI as a senior, can he hit at the D1 level? Anything for the a die hard Creighton Jays fan. Thanks

I don't believe that he batted at Benet Academy.

He played for the Midland Redskins, a premier national summer travel team, that includes the likes of Barry Larkin and Ken Griffey, as distinguished alumni.

Marc is quite a player/competitor and he'll do well for the Blue Jays.

Marc is a pitcher. Period.

Nope, I am just a local fan and I have had a chance to talk to some of the upperclassmen on the team.

Beenthere...
On Lewis' bio at www.gocreighton.com it says he hit .380 with 45 RBI and 20 doubles his senior season. You are right though, he is at Creighton just to pitch.

jays...I know and like Marc.

If he had 20 doubles at Benet Academy his senior year, he likely set the school record.

There might be one or two kids that know him well and I'm sure that they'll be able to fill us in about his batting at Benet.

Where are you Redwings?

We ( Downers Grove South ) played Benet our first game last year. Lewis pitched against us, as well as hit.

Jaysfan, How do the guys feel about Mr. Service and are things more relaxed since Dom left ? Are they still not allowed to stray from the top step of the dugout ? Are they still under orders to throw as hard as they can all day long even during warm-ups and even during a DH ? How many players/pitchers ships were dropped or cut last year ?

The guys on the team love Ed Servais. He is very old school but expects the most out of his players. I've heard during scrimmages he times how fast they get on and off the field stressing to do the little things. I wouldn't say things are more relaxed but guys are allowed to sit during games. I saw during the Nebraska game and I would imagine the others each player still us up and alert during games not because they had to because they wanted to. Strict orders to throw the ball as hard as they can during warm-ups? Sounds like a negative connotation there. Warm-ups are still all out but why would you let up during warmups if they are your preparation for the game. Only one non-senior transferred out after the coaching change and that was Brian Furlong who conisidentally went to Iowa. No scholarships were dropped. It sounds like you have a negative view on the program why is that?
