I had the pleasure of attending the OPRF Glenbard East game. Wow all this hype and what do we get? a 4-0 game, about 5 errors. Kids running into each other. Only about 3 hits the whole game. No production from mcfolling or oconnor. Denney pitched alright except fell apart in the 3rd or 4th inning walking 3 in a row. Come on Soxnole, what happened to your boys?!

mc_queens & fungomaster, Together you two baseball experts have exactly 17 posts on this forum. Where in your vast knowledge of baseball did you determine that 1 game, the first game of a season is so definitive for any team? In your minds does this hold true in the MLB? After the first game 1/2 the teams have already lost.Do you attack those losers with as much voracity as you do OPRF? It doesn't take a genius to see where you both are coming from. I just hope you understand that your mindless posts have no credibility with the majority of the readers on this site.

Two games does not a season make, fellows.

Give them a chance to get into their warm weather gear.

For the next couple of weeks pitchers are going to be way ahead of the hitters. Many teams haven't been outside but a few times if at all and many don't have the best indoor hitting facilities.
It's not fair to make any judgement on teams hitting at this point. Cream always rises to the top and I'm sure OPRF will win its share of games.

mc_queens...Fungo Master.....

Sometimes I get "great ideas" and this one of them. Why don't you two experts give us the names of your schools, your jersey numbers, and then some of us websters can go and watch you guys play???? Smile

What do you think, good idea??? noidea

Now don't be shy, we definitely want to give you guys your "props" as well!

Oh, and by the way, our school is in the same conference as OPRF, and I'd like to make a bet that OPRF finishes the season with a better record than your particular schools finish with. Are you game????? What say, put your money where your mouth is!!! tater

From what I read, Soxnole you were one of them, hyping OPRF. The coach from OPRF came back and wrote in a post, for everyone to cool it. They did. Now OPRF has 2 losses, the first 2 games of the season. First of all, its done on the playing field, not here on posts. secondly OPRF will bounce back, i have no doubt. They are a quality team, good coach, good players.

Teddy Roosevelt quote " Walk softly, carry a big stick " im sure he meant bat. That is why people are simling and laughing about OPRF. Me ? I dont care how they do until we play them.

mustang23dad, those were facts. not hype. no such post by an oprf coach. another fact: we've lost 2 well played well pitched games against solid opponents. all is well in huskie land. we don't intend to change anything but our hitting shoes.

After the first two games, i think i speak for the whole oak park team when i say we are completely defeated. History has shown us that a team is only as good as its first two games. I guess we probably shouldnt even show up for the rest of the season since there is no way we can possibly overcome the events of the last 3 days. Best of luck to all the teams still in it..........
Seriously though, after tonight's practice I didn't see any indication that our team had doubt in our minds about bouncing back. The talent is there, the coaching is there, the only thing that is missing is the hitting off of live pitching. Now I know I can't use poor weather as an excuse because every team is going through the same thing we are, but if we just had a few more days outside, I'm sure we could have been ready to rip those pitchers.
After practice today, I went over the book and it turns out that Glenbard East had 2 hits to our 3 and Schaumburg had 5 hits to our 6. I don't know if that means anything because we lost, but before you go making assumptions that we got "blown out" and we "made 5 errors" and "kids were running into each other like chickens with their heads cut off" make sure you have some evidence to back up your claims.
Oh and Mcqueens, I'm sure that during your brief stint at OPRF, you yourself tried out for the baseball team and most likely got cut, just because you are bitter about it doesn't mean you have to take it out on the current huskie players. walk

I'm not trying to dis Soxnole or anyone that responded to this topic, but it's been all talk up to this point for OPRF. It's time to go to work and let the bats speak for themseleves, which OPRF is completely aware of within a day.

First of all, soxnole is out of his mind and I feel sorry for his kid. Several scouts think he is a complete wack job and he blowing way to much smoke up his kid's team rear ends. OPRF is a quality program, don't get me wrong, but all winter long he is calling OPRF the top program. You lost to Schaumburg, which Coach Groot said this was his least talented team he has ever had during his tenure at Schaumburg. Your 0-2, usually the "top" program does not start out 0-2, but again maybe OPRF is the exception. I hope so, I like OPRF, I just don't like to hear all this talk and see an 0-2 team. That does not make sense, if you say you are good, then win. Plain and simple.

Lockport is the top team anyways, I don't know what you guys don't get.

The achne, by the way cleared up twenty four years ago.
