We had a referendum yesterday and it failed! We will now be asked to make severe cuts. I know most of the schools in northern Illinois don't have to worry about his as much as we do. Being a rural community and then having the state not meet payments etc. we are in big trouble. I will find out this week exactly what it means to my program. I don't think I will like the answers.

Time for breakfast fundraisers!

Pot roast on Friday nights!

Have the local "county" deputies make a few extra stops of cars with out of state plates and the coffers will brighten locally! (lol) I know that that doesn't happen downstate!

In Crete, our referendums split. Were getting 79,400,000 dollars worth of shining new buildings including a state of-the-art fieldhouse for our athletes. The only little problem is that the tax increase didn't pass so we won't have any athletes to use our new fieldhouse. worm

HSDAD, Fieldhouse? There isn't one school in our area that has a "Fieldhouse." I have been told that the School Board will decide "cuts" Monday night and we will learn of the decision on Tuesday if we don't go to the meeting Monday night. I was told that my program will be impacted. This is so disheartening. We have worked so hard to get it to where it is. When I came here, we didn't even have a cage. Now, we have 3 cages, 3 half cages, a rolling backstop, etc. We have drastically improved our program and my varsity assistant is a young man I coached in high school was an All American in high school and played D1 ball. He was a hitting coach at SIUE before he came over to help me. As I have posted, it is so disheartening to find out how big the cuts will be. Beenthere posted that we should have various fundraisers. We are prohibited from doing anything like that. We have such a small community that the few business are constantly hit up and so they have created one booster club and all fundraising goes through that club. They will now be hit up by every sports program just to get supplies if I understand the implications correctly. Fieldhouse??? LOL!

That's right, FIELDHOUSE. But, like I said, our tax increase didn't pass so sports are getting cut. Why we need a fieldhouse is beyond my imagination especially since our average ACT is down to 18. I really think we could do something better with the money but our teachers all claim that our facilities are so bad that they gotta have 79 million worth of new buildings so they can teach. I am willing to bet our ACT's will continue to go down after we get the new buildings because our problem isn't our facilities our problem is...oh wait, we're not allowed to say what the real problem is because it wouldn't be politically correct. We're supposed to keep having faith that the fieldhouse will improve our ACT's and if it doesn't (and it wont) we'll just have to cough up a few hundred million more to fix the problem, then we can all feel good about ourselves because we gave money to the school to make everything better instead of trying to address our real problem which is...oh wait, I almost slipped and said that we have a race problem at Crete, which we don't. I almost let the cat out of the bag...good thing I caught myself in time. I'll just keep my mouth shut and my wallet open, afterall, we're getting a fieldhouse so things have to get better, don't they? Eek
