Just like every year...I'm picking Crete-Monee. But, if I had to make a second choice, I'd probably take Lockport. Wink

Danny Wells is seriously considering southern Illinois but is keeping his mind open for other options, I agree with Styles, JCA will have a very good team we finished strong this summer and are looking forward to starting where we left off.

Aurora has a great baseball program, DIII though. They always win their conference (accept in 1996), but I do not think many have made it to the next level out of there. Maybe independent ball, but not sure when the last person drafted out of there was. Again, it is DIII but baseball wise, they have been one of the best nationally for years.

Aurora U has had good success over past 20 yrs or so - a handful of kids have been drafted and a few have made it to AA. Big difference in level of competition versus SIU and also in tuition dollars.

Back to the original question. Does anyone know about Edwardsville? They are ranked 10th in the country on the Easton Sports HS pool from Jan 24th. Looks like they only lost 2 Sr. off a team that lost 4 or 5 games last year. By the way, they are the only Illinois school on the top 30 poll.

il...nothing against Edwardsville, they are a great program and have great coaching. answer me this...who is the major competition down there? how would they do in a conference with OPRF, Lyons, Hinsdale, etc? when they make it to the state finals, they only have to beat these calibur teams once or twice. we all know that anyone can beat anyone in this game, on any given day. could they hold up playing these types of teams once/twice a week? how about making it through a regional/sectional that has these calibur teams? just some thoughts...maybe I am just biased being up here in northern IL.

pitchdoc..I'm biased toward the north too. Just wondered if they had some top prospects that would warrant a national rating in the top ten. Or is it a case of who you know making out the poll.

getting back to the question...I have noticed a lot of posts about players from St. Ignatius, there are some others being mentioned other than Dunigan. with all these players, is Iggy a state contender this year?

talk about a lopsided schedule, OPRF will play only 13 of 34 games at home this year. not exactly a fast track to success. they will need all the studs to avoid a mediocre record. at least they will be battle tested for the playoffs.home cooking can be important, hopefully the kids will be up to the challenge.
