CPS is Chicago Public Schools, right?

Is this tournament the only post-season they have? Or do they also play in the IHSA regional/sectional/etc like schools outside the city?

Most of the CPS teams play in the IHSA tournament too. I know Lane is playing Clemente in one of the regionals I believe

Dates for Quarters and Semi-Finals are fluid based on field conditions/rain for earlier games.

Quarters and Semis may be at UIC Les Miller Field. CPS Sports Administration making arrangements.

Championship game is likely to be played at US Cellular.

anybody know how one could find the schedule of the CPS playoffs? Matchups, times, locations? You would think someone would publish this, or is this just all in someone's mind?

It was a lopsided victory for Young (23-4) today as the Number One Seed faced off against the bottom seed in the first round of the tournament.

Whitney Young - 34

Chicago Academy - 4

IMO, all you get from running up a score like this is a bigger target on your back.

I may not know much, but one thing I do know is that I'd never be bragging about my sons' team embarrassing themselves and their opponent such as WY did against "the bottom seed."

I'm sure it was an awesome display.

Give it a rest Dolpin.

Hopefully Dolphin Mom had problems with her flippers and the score she gave was a typo.

Scores demonstrate the following:
1. How bad CPS baseball really is.
2. How desperate some fans are for attention (and how little they care about their opposition) when they feel a need to post actual (34-4) scores vs "official".
3. That no matter how often a dolphin may change its gender, it never changes its stripes.

The disparity of CPS teams in the third largest school system in the country is evident. Young played the game and did nothing to run up the score.

It was what it was.

OK so why did you choose to publicize the "actual" score? What purpose does it serve? I'll answer that: to make WY look even better against a team that probably couldn't catch a cold.

Nothing against the players themselves, only their self-appointed PR flack. It is what it is, which is quite sad.

Guys, let's go with the "glass half full" approach on this and keep it positive. Wow, it looks like half of the teams in the CPS are really strong this year, even if it is only among those teams in the CPS. I don't know if that is true or not but who cares?

You only have to look at the posts throughout this forum and their negativity to see why there are very few players who bother to post here any more. Just like alot of things the parents and the "crazy dads"(I'm including myself on this) are messing things up for the kids who are supposed to be helped by a forum like this. There used to be lots of players who posted on this forum several years ago and beyond and that's what made this a great forum, getting imput from the actual players and updates etc, on their teams. That's not happening much anymore it seems to me.

Don't shift the responsibility of your success in this game to somebody else. Be perservering about it. Pay the price and you'll come out where merit takes you. - Branch Rickey

With 2 out in the bottom of the 7th inning, Jack Cinamon (2 for 4) smashed a Double to win the game for the Dolphins. It was 6-5 Young (24-4) getting the Win over Brooks.

Young allowed 3 unearned runs to cross the plate and it certainly appeared that the Dolphins were headed for an early exit from the playoffs. However, with the game on the line in the bottom of the 7th Inning, John Schreiber hit the ball hard which resulted in a misfire by Brooks, allowing Dae Bowden to cross the plate and tie the game with two outs.

Then it was Cinamon's Double with two outs which allowed Schreiber to score and send Brooks home. Brooks played extremely well and gave the Dolphins more than a scare. The Brooks pitcher was impressive, but made one costly mistake at the end of the game. Pitching for Young were Nate Kamin, Jason Ormond and Joe Frahm. Appearances, but no decision for any of the Young pitchers.

Young plays next on Friday and will face either Kenwood or Clemente.
