Congrats to Ryan on his 3-hitter in beating hapless CHicago State.

Memo to Coach Dee: 19-0 and you let your second baseman go 6-6? Not nice.

Memo to Coach at CSU: If a coach is going to let his batter come up again after the kid has gone 5-5 in a meaningless game, you drill him.

Maybe that is why CSU is getting POUNDED by virtually everyone this year!

Beenthere..UIC rpi about 80...CS...about 238. I would't waste Zink against them, nor would I play them...doesn't help their schedule strength. Then again @ 7-7 last I heard, they may need the wins?

Was at the game today. Leftfielder almost pulled a Sammycork (getting hit on the head with a fly ball not a line drive)...Instead of being out of the inning, the next kid jacked a 2 run shot.

Chicago State needs a ton of help.

CSU starter topped out at 68. UIC lefty topped out at 75.

A matchup of "crafty" pitchers.

Easy to get tons of hits when you don't have to "worry" about the pitcher throwing the ball by you! Count to 11 and then swing!

was at the game as well...I think I might have seen a couple of the UIC guys swing twice cause they were so far ahead of the 52 MPH fastball the CS guy was throwing. unreal. what qualifies them as DI?

Btil - Are you serious about those velocities? I would think any kid on a d1 roster could throw harder than that.

pitchdoc...Should have said hello.

dennis...Yes, they are "real" velocities. I sat for an inning behind the UIC guy with the Stalker.

When you look at UIC's stats, you have to throw out the 11-14's they got against CSU.

That was a bad ball club at this time. Only way to go is up. That is why if anyone is looking for a place to play, you should consider CSU. They have a 60 rpi schedule and every team is happy to see them come to town, but they don't have the horses to be competitive at this time.

Would hate to see the team they beat. Now 1-21 for the season.

---

I know that Valpo has struggled this season. Will be real interesting if either team has 5 victories when their seasons end in late May.

"CSU starter topped out at 68. UIC lefty topped out at 75."

What? There must be more to the story ... these were really their top game velocities? What kind of pitches as the CSU starter throwing? Is he a knuckleballer or something?

Game time velocities.

Nothing unique about either of the starters. Just no velocity.

The UIC guy lasted 4 2/3 innings...couldn't believe the coach took him out and the kid didn't qualify for a win because he didn't go another 1/3 of an inning.

Saw my first game this afternoon at UIC. Game ended before it got dark enough to get the feel for what a night game is like. Really liked the facility and view beyond outfield is fantastic.
UIC beat Wright State-real good lefty went 7+ and was 83-86 while lefty closer looked unhittable and was 87-90.
