Ok. How does everyone feel about Kenny Williams drafting his son? Should be interesting to see the responses. Always controversy in that camp.

The only surprise would have been if he didn't draft him.

He drafted him last year too and the year before (or it might have been last year, can't remember) Ozzies kid. I would expect no less.

At least last year he used a 29th round pick, this year he wasted a 6th on him and the fifth player chosen by the Sox.

Skill has its limitations, but luck can take you anywhere!

I guess it could be worse. Wasn't it Shueler that drafted his daughter in a later round one year. I thought that was really disrespectful to all the kids who get drafted in later rounds.

It does seem somewhat high for KW to have taken his son, though I must point out that Detroit took their assistant GM's son in the fifth round. It happens all over the place, not just there. That being said.....you still don't have to like it.

This organization has been doing ALOT of strange stuff lately but as long as they are winning, few are going to complain. When I hear they have a starting pitcher in low A who is throwing the ball 81 mph, that really concerns me for the future. They haven't had too great a track record of developing talent "within."

I'm not here to defend Kenny Williams, but would this complaint be here if the Dodgers had drafted his son?

Papi,
My complaint would definetly be different if the Dodgers drafted KW jr. I would quite whinning about the Sox wasting a pick and start accusing the Dodgers scouts of being idiots. Watch the video of KW hitting on mlb.com and you'll conclude that KW ought think about staying in school and getting a masters degree because baseball isn't going to be his meal ticket much longer.

Now that sounds like a more valid argument, the player isn't worthy of the high pick...not that he's the GM's kid.
