This thread can be for information, news, and updates regarding all the Illinois high schoolers that got drafted. Mainly if any of you guys have heard if a player is going to sign, signed, or choosing to go to college. Within the next few months, those players are going to have a very important decision to make.

I don't think Cales has signed but this is posted on the SXU website in their story about the draft:

“Our entire program is excited for David and we wish him the best as he prepares for the next level of his playing career,” said Saint Xavier University baseball coach Mike Dooley. “We would have loved to have had him pitch for us this past season, but it did not work out that way. David is a very talented hurler and I have no doubts that, with hard work, he will have a successful professional career.”

I'll just start my own discussion, who do you guys think is going to sign from this area right out of high school? The latest rumor I heard was that Grant RHP Kyle Stroup was actually thinking about signing with the Red Sox, even though he was picked dead last in the draft. I guess he wants no part of school. Also, I would think Dan Jimenez is gonna sign with the Cards, considering John A. Logan JC was just a "back-up plan" option.

You are right about one, wrong about the other.

It's not my place to give what their plans are though, so I will leave it at that. I don't want to contribute further to speculation.

Weave,

How about you, are you going to go to Heartland or are you maybe thinking about signing? Whatever you decide, congrats on getting drafted, that's awesome and every baseball kids dream.

Right now I am not sure what I will be doing. I don't know specifics right now on the things that will be the deciding factors.

With both situations there are so many positives.

I can tell you this though... It is going to be tough to decide.

White Sox! White Sox! White Sox! Oh, by the way, I saw a picture of you for the very first time the other day, and I just wanted to let you know that if you do sign, please get a haircut.

Whoa now! There comes a point where I must interject.

That picture was from last year and I admit my hair may have been a tad long. It's been trimmed and I think I look quite stunning now.

I like to liken myself to Samson though. The hair is where it all comes from. Wink

This is probably more for DolphinMom, but someone else can confirm if they want. Is it true that Troy White hit .615 this year with six homers and 35 RBI? If so, he should definitely sign with the Tribe. A .615 batting average? That means he's going to rake at Oakton CC next year if he goes.

Little late but "Congrats on being drafted"

We all know whatever choice you make will be the right one. Being partial to Heartland I hope we see you playing Baseball in Normal IL.

How much time do these players have to make their decisions? Is there a date they have to decide by?

August 15th now I believe. Rules changed recently, used to have draft and follow, or first day that a kid started on campus if he went to college.

15th is correct.

and everything I am seeing with the draft guys on our team is it is still a draft and follow with them. They will follow until Aug most likely. At least so far they are there.

I thought the draft and follow was eliminated?

Does anybody know where you can find a complete list of the 2007 draft with who signed and signing bonus amounts?

Does anybody know if any of the Illinois guys have signed yet this year?

This isn't complete, but it shows the top rounds.

Signing Bonuses.

It's a free info page from PG Crosschecker.

Rumor has it that Odorizzi has signed for a $1.2 million bonus. Anybody else hear anything on the Odorizzi front?

Any updates on the Illinois boys that were drafted? Has anybody signed? Anybody who definitely won't sign?
