Two programs that should never be compared. Sparks are class acts

Norwood Blues. Pildes has been running it successfully for over 20 years. The kids learn to play strategic baseball. They are already good players when they come to the program. Their lineup this year is awesome if everyone who says they are playing shows. We'll know in a couple of weeks.

I have a bad feeling about this thread! I'll let it go for now.

catcher2, we've been here many times. If you wish to know, perhaps a pm would be more appropriate unless your intent is to open this can of worms again. I'm hoping that it is not and you have innocently wandered into posting this topic. Otherwise?

I think it was "TheGreatTruth" (which sounds like an oxymoron) who is trying to start the fight.

Seems like an innocent thread to begin with.

Illinois Sparks
Upper Deck Cougars
Norwood Blues
Top Tier

All seemingly good programs that get a lot of pub.

What about Schaumburg Seminoles?

Give us some others. If you don't like them, keep it to yourself.

I don't care much for the Blue Jay Express, but I'll do as you say biggerpapi and keep it to myself.

For the juniors that will be seniors next year the one thing that really matters is are you on a team that coaches and scouts want to come see? Winning games almost becomes secondary, keep score by home many guys are standing behind the screen with radar guns and clip boards. The son my team was on was probably a few games over 500 last summer. Most games we pitched 3-4 pitchers and moved guys around to showcase everyone as much as possible. I can think of only a few games we played where there wasn't a college coach or pro scout watching. Trophys are great but save those for the little guys. The real trophy is a college scholarship.

Right on. No matter how many tournaments you may win over the course of a summer, it is more important to provide the necessary exposure for players to get to the next level and continue their careers. I do feel as though most summer teams have a good grip on this and do things the right way.

Playball2- I never said what team my son was on. Over the course of the summer there were many other teams I saw that did the same thing, showcase pitchers, play players at different positions etc. to help them get to the next level what ever that level may be. I'm not sure what your problem really is with my post, I was just trying to pass on our experience. And I'm not sure what pophetic is...

I know this is changing the subject here , but i would like Playball's opinion on one of his fellow high school coach's ( Napoleon- new trier ) running up the score unneccesarily 32-1 against niles north on wednesday. How could he possibly feel good about what he taught his team after that debacle ?

IL2008 I was missing the "r" for prophetic, inevitably threads on travel baseball will end back to your comments (reality of Travel Baseball), it is not about team.

Sulltiger, my response is on the ethics thread.

Playball - You seem to have a real dislike for travel, or club, baseball and are apparently somewhat threatened by it which is understandable. You see, unlike a good number of high school coaches, I am determined to promote each and every one of my players through the concept of team so that they can achieve their ultimate goal of playing at the collegiate level...can you say the same?

Moreover, your sarcastic attack on il2008's post was, in my opinion, uncalled for as he was simply stating the benefit of properly coached, club-travel baseball at the high school level. I say this without any affiliation with him whatsoever.

Bravescoach, my post was not sarcastic in any way. If you read again you will see that it is very matter of fact. Secondly if that is your idea of an appropriate way to coach, then say nothing about how you promote a team concept, this the furthest idea from a team concept read the post again. As far as being threatened, you could not be further from the truth, I am very aware of how the system works.
