This year's Perfect Game - Academic Showcase was held at Terry Park in Fort Meyers, Florida on June 9-10. Four adjacent fields were used for the event. The weather was hot and humid with heavy rain in the afternoon. Participants were 2009 and 2010 players as well as unsigned 2008 players from throughout the country.

Heavy rain ended the day one events in the early afternoon requiring a double header to be played by all 8 teams in attendance on Tuesday, June 10. In Game One for the Red Team, Jason Ormond, Whitney Young (Class of 2009) was the starting pitcher and later played first base. He pitched 3 innings, allowing no runs in a game versus the Teal Team. The Red Team won its first game, 1-0 versus Teal.

Congratulations to Jason. I also know he will have an exciting trip to Italy in July.

Are you sick. We are all now suppose to tout every single accomplishment of every high school player attending any showcase, travel team game, legion game, summer ball game. At least have the modesty, if your son did well, to have someone other than his father tout him. If it is so noteworthy I am sure others saw the accomplishment and would comment if appropriate.

THESE FOLLOWING POSTS ARE IN RESPONSE TO AN ANNONYMOUS POSTER......That post has now been removed.

Baseball is played to an outcome. The Perfect Game format keeps a score. The game of baseball is played all over the world with varying rules and you are right, it does not matter.

Tournament baseball has its rules, high school baseball has different rules and International Baseball has another set of rules. However it is played, it is still baseball and it is a game.

I saw both games. Red Team won the first game and the Teal Team won the second was what I saw posted on the scoreboard. In the end it does not matter. It was a great experience for all players to be at this well run, (but very hot) event. As everyone knows these events are all about gaining exposure. That is why reports are posted after the event.

I was in attendance and the score that I saw on the board was Red team over Teal. Game I was well played by both teams.

What player and state was your son on Teal? I see that your profile is from everywhere!

In this information age, having knowledge is king. This board is helpful to players and parents in making decisions. There are a lot of showcase and camp options. The more information that is posted, the more content rich that this site becomes, which is beneficial to all parties. If a high school player wants to continue his playing career it comes down to exposure.

Schools advise that they want information and they are looking at all kinds of sources to make their decisons. They want player schedules, results, honors, GPA and ACT and SAT scores. Players have to be noticed to get an opportunity which is why all of the camps, showcases and combines are now being run.

They are all focused on the same thing, some teaching, some playing, networking....and importantly, getting EXPOSURE.

Perfect Game markets their events and who ever showed up was there. It appears that no one from Tennessee was at this event. Plenty of national coverage, however.

You would have to assess the quality of schools. I just do not know.
