Wow, what a change from last year. I can't believe that the IHSA has done this. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Its just that it is so radically different.

HS...I think we should send Hillcrest to Edwardsville and have Triad up here in Lockport.

Come on Beenthere, you're not showing my boys any loving at all. Just for the record to everyone else, I have never bragged about the quality of my team at all. For the record, we're just some hicks from the sticks that play some ball.

BEENTHERE, WHY YOU DOWN ON MY BOYS SO MUCH? Confused Smile Big Grin

Coach...I am not "down" on your boys at all.

I am well aware of the caliber of high school baseball played down in central and in Southern Illinois.

I say 99% of the things I write in jest, hoping to prompt a response. If I didn't, no one would write anything and we couldn't focus on high school baseball and the fun times it provides all of us.

I apologize to you since you are a coach of a team but I don't mean anything personally. Kind of a "North" and "South" thing all over again...but this time without rifles.

Coach, why not bring your team up here next year during spring break or just a travel weekend and play ball? You said you were playing Andrew, when and where is that to take place?

Mom...Would be there in my Griffin Blue and black.

...And I'd take the team out for hamburgers and cokes after the game.

BTIL,
Be careful what you say about Hillcrest, last year I jokingly picked them to win state on this board and nearly started a war because of my insensitivity to teams that don't have a chance. Don't get me wrong, I love Hillcrest, they added 50 points to my kids batting average and helped lower his ERA. This year we replaced Hillcrest on our schedule with Lockport. Oh, how I miss the good old days. Eek

Soxnole, I've heard but wouldn't swear to it that the rule is 300 miles. The same rule applies to schools in Michigan. Last week 3 different HS squads from Michigan travelled to florida for a week of work in the sunshine, stayed at the same facility (Bucky Dent Baseball) and couldn't play any games with any other school due to the rule. They all had to play intrasquad games. Pretty ridiculous I'd say.

2ndbasemom, sorry this took so long to reply to. We play Andrew at the Lincoln Tournament. We play them Friday April 23 at 4:30. This is the same time as when we played them last year. I have a great deal of respect for Coach Ganser and this game can only help my team improve. We are definatly the underdog. As Coach Ganser remarked last year, it is hard to tell how good teams are in tournaments when these tournaments spilt conference games. Last year it was a battle of #3's. This year, we play everyday that week and then enter the tournament with a conference game before and the Monday after that tournament. We will have to throw #4, #5 and #6 in that tournament. WE HAD BETTER SCORE A BUNCH OF RUNS! lol!

Someone posted about spring break! WHAT? We don't get one of any duration. We were off this past Friday and will be off MOnday. We played a doubleheader against Granite City Saturday. So, we really don't get one at all. We have been invited to a tournament in Kentucky but can no go. I don't know if we will be able to continue in the Lincoln Tournament. We have had major budget cuts and my program was especially hit hard. I will be the only Class AA school in our entire area with one coach on the varsity level next year. That is only one of the many cuts we will have to endure.
