Off to a 7-0 start with some quality wins.UIC loses 3rd game.Ohio State pummeled for 2nd day in a row by D2 North Florida. Nebraska loses to under .500 Minn. gophers. Michigan State a complete embarassment.......... maybe our only hope is NIU. Hope this changes but UIC gets a huge test in their next 7. Minn. plays FSU tomorrow. Mich. finally wins 2 1 run games against ACC doormat Duke.

Michigan State is very young and has very little pitching. Freshman All American Tim Day had surgery and their pitching staff is very inexperienced with the exception of Brian Gale. Also, Soxnole were you down in Florida to see them play FSU. I'm curious to how they competed.

19, they almost got a victory, lost with 2 out and 2 strikes in the bottom of the 9th on a walk-off 3 run homer by Danny Wardell who is a very good hitter but hitting only ..082 at the time.score was 5-4. last 2 games were 11-1 and 4-0 FSU. I was down tues/wed for their wins over Butler and Illinois State. FYI, you can get every score/standigs and RPI's at [ncaa-baseball.com]

Hi Peter, I have to apologise for my comment at the top of this thread. MSU has really done a much better job since their trip to Jacksonville. The almost win at FSU tells me that if they can find some pitching maybe they can turn things around. My oldest son came within an eyelash of playing in East Lansing. I have always favored MSU and hope things improve over the course of this year. I know the pitching will improve NEXT year! Good Luck this season and say hello to Bobby L. for me. There is a kid who deserves a lot more attention than he gets!

long gone, it wasn't pretty. but it was just one game. i agree that florida state is one of the prettiest college settings anywhere. (We really only give props to UNC,Duke and Mississippi). I hope you get to see it. i also am sure they were treated with the hospitality that is famous in Tallahassee. i'll be following the dogs closely. good luck with your wing. have they decided if its surgery or rehab or both?

In response to your paragraph above it's looking like Bob Loos may not play this year. He's saying he's burnt out after his hockey season. If he doesn't play it will be a big blow to our team.

Soxnole...NIU is looking pretty good right now. Their pitching
looks strong and so does their hitting. They play at home this weekend. I think my son and I are going to try and catch a game
on saturday. I just hope this weather comes around.

They have no depth in pitching, can hit with anyone. Lost some games to bad teams. The MAC will be tough.

Look for UIC to have a big weekend against Miami. Don't be surprised if they win at least one, maybe 2 of 3 games. One of my summer teammates, Nelson Gord is their third baseman and they are certainly not afraid of anyone right now. Confidence levels are way up..this is the first time in UIC history that they received votes in the polls. Congrats to UIC on representing the "North"...there is hope. I still wanna see a UIC / NIU matchup.

TAR....Comment about the high schoolers beating the D1 teams.

Reminds me of the days when I went to a small college after having graduated from St. Rita and the big Cathlic League football reputation (in the '60's and 70's)...

When I watched a single football practice of the 18 year old kids playing against 22 or 23 year old men...Let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. Different game with 16-18 year old kids and 22-23 year old men...especially in college.

Great that the high schoolers have that "swagger" and confidence, but, with their comments, they obviously have a lot to learn.
