Although I'm usually in agreement with you CPLZ, a tournament located in Ft. Lauderdale at arguably the single best HS program in the country deserves some special attention in my book.
Go Dolphins!

Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Dolphins came up short today losing 6-3 to Good Pasture High School (Tennessee). Class of 2008, Troy White (2 for 4 today) was the Whitney Young MVP from the perspective of many tournament observers and because of his performance will be one of the highlighted players from the Sunshine Classic to be featured in a baseball magazine. The Dolphins finished 2-2 and ended up somewhere in the middle of the pack. The championship game will be a battle of Tennessee teams; Battleground High School versus Farragut High School.
Head Coach Rich Hoffman at Westminster Academy puts on several tournament weeks for teams wanting to experience playing in Florida at this first rate baseball facility. This was a week of great baseball, great food and the best weather which was enjoyed by everyone and everywhere we went we were treated well. The experience to participate in a tournament with teams from Tennessee, Florida, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Virginia and the Virgin Islands was unbeatable.
A special thanks goes out to Head Coach Chris Cassidy and his coaching staff for taking the team to Florida for a second consecutive year. It took lots of planning, logistics and support from many dedicated individuals to make this trip happen.
It is now off to the Fort Lauderdale Beach and then a team dinner at a Florida steakhouse later tonight before heading to the airport and returning to Chicago. No one wants to leave! However, Easter Break is over and it is time to face the reality of returning to the classroom and feeling the sting of the bat with Spring Baseball weather conditions in Illinois looming ahead!

WY is scheduled to play St. Ignatius on Monday. Not going to happen. Snow on the ground with more to follow. Stay in Florida is my advice. Maybe the students could stay and do some community service; ie help organize the Fl. re-vote. Ooops, Michelle O'Bama's candidate doesn't want that.

soxnole:
I am with you that WA is a very fine program and they host very fine tournaments, but I'll take the Sarasota High School Sailors (Florida 6A) and the Sarasota Baseball Classic (ongoing now) as among the very best HS programs, and tourneys, respectively.

Notre Dame is in Orlando this week for the Bishop Moore High School Catholic Challenge . Bishop Moore was Florida 4A state champs last year . There are 6 other area ( florida ) schools in this tourney. Of course N.D. has Bishop Moore on tap for their first game tonite . Home run derby was last nite . Trotta and Kane had a good showing , but i heard one of Bishop Moores big guys ( 6'4 220 ) ran away with it .

Coach Wheeler of Bishop Moore runs a great program they seem to be in States year after year. A few years back they won the "National Classic" held in California..... My older son seriously considered going there.
Notre Dame has there hands full especially considering that the Florida schools are probably about at the halfway point in there seasons.
Heres a list of the participating schools:
Belen Jesuit - Miami Bishop Moore Catholic - Orlando Cardinal Gibbons - Ft. Lauderdale LaSalle - Miami Westminster Christian - Miami Notre Dame - Niles, IL Tampa Catholic - Tampa St. Thomas Acquinas - Ft. Lauderdale

I was the photographer covering and tournament and I would have to say that the Westminster tournaments are one of the best (I haven't been to the Sarasota one yet so I can't compare), but I really enjoyed the Sunshine Classic! And anyone who goes has to admit that those fajita pitas are great!
For everyone who attended, I just wanted to thank you all again for everything!!!
