Wow, congrats to the young man. Tough to do anywhere!

Gees, who do/did they play? How far did they fly?

Do those coaches know anything about their opponents? Do they care? Do they know anything about walks? HBP?

As a coach, I GUARANTEE you that would never happen to my team/pitcher (s) in a lifetime. You just don't pitch to the kid.

I believe he hit them vs Wheeling and the paper said right field was 330, and 370 to the gap. He was quoted as to have said, "After the first 3 HR's the catcher told me that I was not going to get anything to hit....then he groved me one"

I think he has 5 or 6 so far on the season, altho competition might have something to do with that, I mean even CG beat Wauconda 27-1.

Forget the catcher...In my opinion, they should fire the vcoach for letting a kid embarrass his team like that.

Why didn't they walk him? Hit him?

Been, Id like to say Im surprised at you, but it seems typical. This is HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL. Hopefully no one "hits" kids on purpose. If I was his coach, and he hit the kid on purpose, Id pull my pitcher out. If I was a opposing coach, and my kid got hit, I would take the other coach to task. The kid had a good day, a great day. I do beleive a walk would suffice. I wouldnt pitch to the kid. Thats respect. Hitting a kid because he rocked you with 4 HRs is the sign of a coward.

hit...You haven't followed HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL like I've followed high school baseball for the past 40 years.

It is curve ball that "just happened to get away". I'm not talking about "head-hunting". The player hit 4 home runs in 5 innings. Haven't read about it in any of the local papers, but I wonder what the score of game was...anyone know? In my opinion, hitting a kid because he rocked you for 4 homers is not the sign of a coward, but rather, a sign to the "mope" that is coaching him that he shouldn't be sending him up again with a lead in the teens in a 4-5 inning game!

TAR..."...a few behind the hitter" ...That is worse than hitting someone with a curve ball.

Wheeling has the shortest left field fence around due to a lack of space. If the wind is blowing out a short fly is a home run. Over the fence is the parking lot so it can be fun to watch.

The only time anyone should ever throw at a batter during a highschool game is on a squeeze play. Hitting someone on purpose because they hit 4 homers is unheard of. We stole home with a 10 run lead a couple of days ago to get the game over with, there is nothing wrong with still playing with a big lead. It is early in the season and the caoch wanted to get the kid at bats.

Gees. "Wonderful" high school coaches in Illinois. Stealing home with a 10-run lead? Sounds like your coach is the kind that should be BURIED 38-0 one day!

...And you're complaining about a pitcher hitting a batter after he's hit 4 home runs off of your pitching?

Been, Actually, you dont know me, so dont say I havnt been watching or paying attention to HS baseball for the past 40 years, when you really dont have a clue. I have played both HS and college baseball, the same as you. I dont care what the situation is, you dont hit a kid playing HS baseball. In college, our guys did. Heck ive been brushed back and hit. But I cant remember in HS baseball ( its been 30 years ). Plus, never have I hit 4 HRs in one game. By the way, 40 years ago, I was 10, playing little league and only caring about who I was playing that day.

Lol, bases.

Having gone through life with 7 teenagers, I don't think that I need to look to you for advice on anything!

Don't play silly little games and take things out of context!

Sonen or anyone...Do you know the final score of the game where the kid hit 4 out? Thanks.

One guy hits 4 out and the coach does nothing. Another one steals home leading by 9 runs. Is that the kind of "coaching" baseball players need?

Don't embarrass anyone on a diamond. A well-placed curve ball that sends a message is part of the game.

If you want to be politically correct, Bases, stay at home and watch the Cubbies on TV. Everyone in Chicago will be doing so this year.

---

If you guys think that kids don't throw at kids in high school, you haven't played in the SICA West.

Been, Nope we dont play in SICA West. Though we have played Stagg, Lockport. What I am saying is you, as a responsible ( I use that term lightly ) adult, would condone a kid to throw at another, in HS baseball.

Gees, hit.

So much cynicism. Say hello when you see me.

In the context of a situation in a game where it is appropriate, I wouldn't be surprised when a high school kid gets hit with a baseball.

What I wouldn't do is what a coach did in a game between Lockport and Minooka a couple of years ago, i.e., throw a fastball BEHIND the hitter to send a "message".

Off to see my son play.

IF i hit 3 homers in a game and came up to bat and got hit, i would be one pissed off kid. Why hit someone on purpose? It just causes deeper problems. Problems which are not needed on the diamond. Nobody needs to be throwing at anybody. Period.

And yes we did steal home wiht a 9 run lead. It was 35 degrees out and raining, and we were up by 9 with 2 outs in the 5th. The game needed to be ended so coach made a good call.
