The kid from LT, McMurray had quite a day. HR in first vs. excellent pitcher, HR in third or fourth against another excellent pitcher, and another one off the top of the fence that bounced back onto the field against a third excellent pitcher. Quite impressive.

Yes I believe so. Every now and then you see a kid that makes you go WOW and he was that kind of hitter.

More about Casey McMurray,

I'd be shocked if he didn't have the fastest running time of the day in the 60. One day earlier at the PBR Showcase at Benedictine he was timed at 6.55 sec, the quickest time of the event. There is nothing this kid cannot do on the diamond, and he is as humble a young man as you'll find.

Casey Mc, way to go dude. Keep the LT tradition going. You have a heavy load to bear next year. If anyone can do it, it is you baby. Yeah Mc. Hope you make the area code games too. You are going to look good in that ISU uniform next year(07) too. Can't wait to see that. Yikes....ISU is going to have an all LT outfield...maybe just maybe that will happen , in my dreams anyway....

There was another LT kid who went 2for2 with a line shot home run , made a diving play at third and pitched the last inning. Grant Fillipitch.

This was a great event overall from top to bottom. Great facility, well organized, excellent talent, good concessions, and many, many schools represented......Big Ten, Service Academies, MAC, MVC, ND, Duke lots of D 3. Hats off to Harvey Foster. If Plainfield is anything like this those going are in for a great experience. Also looks like LT will be tough to beat next year!

Aren't there a few all-star games/showcase games that choose players who performed well at the Stevenson Showcase and the Planfield one?

Kaiser is usually played at NCC right after the summer state tournament. Harvey then heads up team Illinois usually coached by hall and maybe bonebrake from benet. Last year it was the first week in August at Palatine, this year i hear it is up in Kenosha, not 100% sure. Harvey has about five or six people that builds the team or teams.

Does anybody know who represented Illinois in these "all-star games" last year?

The Jack Kaiser all star game is at benedictine this year and is scheduled for the 11th of july at 7:00pm. I talked with Harvey today and we may move it a day before or after so we don't play on the same night as the MLB all star game. We want as many fans, scouts and colleges in attendance, so moving it may avoid any conflicts with the true baseball fan. I will give any updated information as soon as we make a decision.

Phil Wunderlich I believe went back to back with McMurray in the First Inning during the first game on Saturday. And has anyone ever seen "Torque" (DGN 2nd Basemen) run? I think he may of topped McMurray's 6.55. But by far I agree Casey is the top prospect there.

Nice article about the Fox Valley, Arthur. I do think that the attitude they took was a little different than some other conferences. I noticed on Sunday for instance that all of their players were there in the dugout a hour or more before game time. They seemed to play a little more to win and with a chip on thier shoulder.

They do have some very fine players to be sure, but it's a bit of a leap to say that winning games at this showcase means anything.

The article on the Fox Valley conference team was entertaining but that's about it. Facts weren't really accurate (surprise!). The score was accurate but to claim fame to victory over a team that touted 5 NCHS players was a bit of a stretch. I don't think the runs were scored on the NCHS pitchers........I don't think the errors were made by NCHS players........ Not only that, NCHS had only 4 players at Stevenson. I suppose if you didn't watch the game closely you can draw any conclusions you want based on the score.
