Is this a good showcase? I see that each player only plays 1 game, how do they get this done with so many players and only in 2 days? Are there a lot of colleges represented? Any help or recommendations of hotels to stay away from and good restaraunts while there would be helpful. We are going there Labor Day weekend.

It has a good rep. Attended by schools in that area, mostly smaller ones or JUCOs.

I have attended this showcase and would recommend it to everyone interested in getting some exposure. I took my son who is a pitcher and as a result he received letters and inquiries from about 30 colleges from Juco to division 1. It is very well organized and they are efficient at getting all of the players through the process. As far as games go, they let 5 players bat and that constitutes the half inning no matter what happens so it speeds up the games. I am definitley taking my second son there to participate.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn express in Blairsville. Not much to do in this area but we did eat at a great BBQ place on the main drag from Blairesville to Young Harris. Can't remember the name, but you can't miss it. Great food.

We attended many showcases over the past 2 years and this one is BY FAR the best one hands down. The Coach/Parent Q&A the first night is worth its weigh in gold!

This is a first class showcase and there were so many college scouts in attendance that there is absolutely NO seats behind home plate to view the game! What a problem to have.

I would suggest that whatever position your son is best at or wants to play in college, that he focus on that position while at the showcase. My son played his infield position first and tweaked his back so when he had to toe the mound his velocity and mechanics were off big time. You want to perform at your best at the position you really want and don't need any injuries hindering you.

As far as rooms, there really aren't a lot of choices. We stayed at a country club that was just up the road. It was very nice.

When you leave this showcase you will know that you've been at an awesome showcase.

Good luck. Come back and let us know how it went.

Thank you for all of the responses. It makes it easier to justify the money to go. We just finished the Michigan High School Showcase today and he ended up hitting a 385ft grand slam. Unfortunatly, there were no scouts or coaches there today. They all come to day 1 and day 2 to see the pitchers in the bullpen and first couple of games and none come back for game 3 on friday. We are looking forward to this one in Georgia. My inlaws live in Albany area.

I think that you will find it well worth your money. Although I see you are from Michigan, WOW! I hope that you don't plan on staying with the inlaws as Albany is on the other end of the state about 4 hours away. If you go to the Young Harris website you can find the listings of the local accomodations. Good luck.

Actually, we are going to visit with them Wed thru Fri and then drive up to YH Fri night and stay at the Seasons Inn. I hope it's decent. They told me when I called that the showcase has 20 rooms on hold for the incoming coaches, so that may work out to some contacts.

Sounds like a good one! Now that Exhibit A is off to school, time to start focusing on Exhibit B (a 2011 grad). I checked the site and found the list of '07 attendees - pretty nice collection of scouts/schools.
We will definitely do another HeadFirst event, and this YH one looks good as well.
