Amarillo's Canyon-Randall has a strong history of going deep into the playoffs. They have never reached the state finals, but came close a few times. Even with the change to Head Coach David Walden this past year, (Ribera moved to 5A Cedar Hill) they haven't skipped a beat thanks to a great feeder program called North Randall County Baseball Association (NRCBA). Five Randall baseball players signed letters-of-intent Thursday 4/26 to play college baseball for JUCO-Frank Phillips and NAIA-Lubbock Christian. Brad Propst, Tyler McClary, Nathan Pirnie and Bill Tom Milburn signed to play for Frank Phillips, and Matt Cordova signed to play with Lubbock Christian. McClary, 8-1 record, 0.72 ERA. Pirnie, DH, leads the team with a .471 batting average and 33 RBIs. Brad Propst, in the last four games, Propst had 14 consecutive hits, including three doubles, a triple and a home run, and drove in seven runs. The senior also pitched a three-hitter against Pampa on Saturday, striking out six in a complete-game shutout Most in our fine state won't believe we know how to compete up here in the Panhandle area. Some of our most recent graduates are competing at JUCO-Cisco, Clarendon, Vernon, Seward, Hutchinson, Midland, Odessa, Western Texas; NAIA-Lubbock Christian U, Houston Baptist U.; NCAA-Hardin-Simmons U., McMurray U., Dallas Baptist U., West Texas A & M, U. of Kentucky, Texas A&M, North Carolina State; MLB(Minors)-Astros(AAA)-Round Rock. to name a few. Haven't heard. During my son's varsity seasons, we won District all three (3) years earning the bye week. We did have an inter-squad game full-speed early in the week. Pitching by committee, defensive starters vs back-ups. One year we prepared for a night game & traveled to Canyon to practice unders the lights. This practice strategy caused a costly injury to our starting SS/#4 pitcher in 2002 before we met up with Fort Worth Western Hills in Midland. However, with Ribera out & Walden in, not sure of the off-week practice strategy. SPP

Sorry I couldn't get back in time for a pre-game update, but after reading the local paper, seems Frenship was well prepared, wouldn't you say? Who is Frenship's next match-up? SPP

FHS-Dad, Got back in town late yesterday & today following a 2-man scramble warm-up round & 1st day round in Hereford today. Heading back tomorrow. I see that Randall swept Frenship in 2 games. What is your take on the storylines? Southpaw Pop
