Great news for the Texas kids. Looks like BU is much more active than at this time last year -- and that's 3 SS in 2 recruiting classes. Does anyone know if Beemer signed?

DXBIBLE, I checked Houston 5A's site and you are correct - Taillon is a 2010 player. A VERY EARLY commit. The owner of Houston5abaseball says on the message board that Taillon has had his heart set on Rice since age 8 or 9.

Interesting that Rice is committing players earlier. It seems to get earlier and earlier every year . . . . he must be a can't miss and he'll get a great education and great coaching there.

Kentucky received one of the biggest commitments of the Rich Brooks era when Centennial High School (Tx.) quarterback and DBAT outfielder Ryan Mossakowski chose to become a Wildcat. Mossakowski will play football and baseball for the Wildcats.

Just curious, if you're not supposed to receive any correspondence before Sept 1 of your Junior year and can't receive phone calls till July 1 of your upcoming Senior year, how do you commit before you're even a Junior? Just wondering.

If the player attends a camp on the college's campus and the player pays for the camp, the coaches can interact as much as they want. Offers and commitments can be done then.

I agree. Be patient, but I'll also add, be proactive. Pick out a set of schools that would be strong, regardless of the baseball situation, and call those coaches. Let them know you are interested. You never know what will happen.

I agree.. I have so many friends who arent playing this year because they thought that they would just be seen on there own. There aren't to many players who the scouts flock to.. most players have to send emails and make phone calls. Be persistent and it will pay off

Congrats to all of these kids listed! Getting a scholarship at this stage is a truely remarkable accomplishment. I especially wish the best for Mr. Mossakowski. Any kid that can spurn aggie football is alright in my book! Wink

More verbal commitments from Houston's 5Abaseball site:

M.P. Cokinos, C, SB Memorial, Univ. of Houston

Michael Ratterree, SS, SB Memorial, Rice

Kevin Hahn, LHP, Stratford, Rice

Tyler Spurlin, RHP, The Woodlands, Rice

Brandon Wood, RHP/OF, Clements, Texas A&M

Keifer Nuncio, RHP, Katy, University of Texas

Connor Harrell, OF, Kinkaid, Vanderbilt

Kevin Williams, LHP, Angleton, Texas A&M Corpus Christi

Congrats to all!

If I'm not mistaken, Brandon Wood is the first Texas A&M '09 commitment I've read about. Are there others out there, or is A&M having a slow recruiting year?
