Another DBAT player commits to Nebraska. Just heard it through the fields of corn that Kale Kiser has committed to play for Nebraska. Congrats to the Kiser family. I guess we can now get some work done at DBAT by Kirk.

Just thought this piece of info might help some who might not know, or for future parents/kids. A kid can't receive a college offer until after he's taken the SAT... and I think maybe even registered with the clearinghouse(not sure). Now verbals and stuff, I don't know how that works... but I think that came up with BB last year.

i guess with the success of the few texas men nebraska already has, and the addition of Newman to the staff, we can't skip pulling kids out of The great state any more.Congrats to all new Huskers, there is no experience like it. enjoy

DTiger, my son has already taken the ACT, but not the SAT. Will that suffice?

I would assume... can someone who's been through the process help out if it's ultimately the clearinghouse you must register for before receiving an offer. To completely register with the clearinghouse, you must send them an SAT or ACT... (I think).

You can receive offers without being registered with the Clearinghouse. Most kids that have made commitments are not officially "cleared" by the NCAA.

AHHH, so it's that you can't sign (literally) before being cleared?

I am under the impression you don't register witht he clearing house until your senior year officially starts. Is that correct?

You can do the initial registration during your junior year, Sandy. Then all that is left (if I'm remembering correctly) is to have SAT scores sent to the Clearinghouse, complete an "amateur certification" form in spring of your senior year, and have final (post-graduation) transcripts sent.

DT, you aren't officially cleared until after your final transcripts are sent in and processed. I have heard of some kids not being officially cleared unitl fall of their college freshman year.

Yeah... Jesuit pushes college all the time and I'm still not 100% on what I have to do. I'd say, go to the counselors... that's what I'm doing.

Texan- That makes sense, but isn't there a "level" of being cleared one must be or something so they can sign on the dotted line to receive a scholarship. I thought, not sure, this is why BB didn't commit until late... or one of the reasons. I know he had the offers.

You must have your high school transcripts sent to college before taking offical visit. Tests scores and Clearinghouse will come after you accept offer to attend particular college. It a good idea to have a copy of your transcript. College academic department will have to clear student for visit. Coach's are not going to waste money for visit if kid would not qualify.

I read on Houston 5A's message board that Nino Leyja (SS) of Houston Christian has verbally committed to Sam Houston State.
