Perhaps it explains why SA and Austin area summer baseball lags behind N. TX and Houston area.....

The forum may say "Off Season," but the topic concerns spring baseball, not summer. I would venture to guess that there are a few parent-coach problems in N. TX and Houston too. Wink

Smaller geographic areas, generally less income (in San Antonio, at least) to pay for player development -- yes, there are struggles.

However, great strides are being made, largely because of the efforts of two locally-based pro scouts.

Btw, the original poster is based in the Corpus Christi area, home of 2008 4A state champion Calallen HS and 2007 4A state champion Moody HS. This area certainly does not "lag behind."

SA and Austin have quality baseball teams, don't let anybody fool you.
Even the smaller towns around in that area have quality teams. Sinton, down Corpus way, has a solid program. Adrian Alaniz (UT) came from the Sinton program.

Im not so sure south texas baseball does lag behind north texas. I would agree it does trail Houston, but dont we all trail Houston.

last year I dont think there was one Dallas area school in the 5a state tournament im not sure about 4a classification, yes i believe mesquite poteet got run ruled by moody just as Waxahachie did this year by Calallen.

South Texas is well represented in High School baseball.
