When I was at Mansfield Summit, the District AD actually asked me what I thought about putting field turf on the baseball fields. I told her that I was all for it! She said the HC at Tiger High was against it...figures! If I was given the option, I'd have it done in a heartbeat!

Sorry for the rant guys, this is my second child in this school district, just tired of being second class.
Unfortunately, it is like that in most places. That is the reality of coaching high school baseball in Texas. It will never change and I am a much happier person now that I have accepted that. I love football, even more so now because I do not have to coach it! I have fought that battle in the past and it got me nowhere. Lucky for me, I have a good situation at my current school because every sport is successful and every sport is important. The head coaches all support each other and so does our administration...which is the key! To me, as a baseball coach, I have two choices. 1) Sit around and whine about how football has everything and we have nothing and are second class citizens...or 2) Focus on things that I can control to make my program the best it can be, putting the kids first and making sure as many of them as possible have a great HS Baseball experience. Now I know that I won't make everyone happy and that every kid is not going to leave with fond memories. But if I am not trying to accomplish my 2 said objectives, then I can not go home at night and look myself in the eye. Do things happen that frustrate me? Sure? But I won't let them win, I won't let that situation get the best of me. When the bell that ends 2nd period rings, it is the best sound of the day...because that means it is time to head down and get to baseball class. Rain or shine it's the best part of the day!
