Boomer, Have you checked out the Travelers? I have heard good things about them. Here is a link to their website www.elkcitytravelers.com/. They appear to have a tryout coming up on April 15. Good luck to you.

The Elk City (Woodward) Traveler organization is one of the best/top 17/18 programs in the country. For 25 years they were the premier American Legion program in the southwest, some years the USA. With the 'advent; of select baseball the Travelers moved from Woodward to Elk City some time in the early 90's I think. They were founded and coached for 25 or so years by a fine and distinguished baseball legend - Bob Ward. The organization is now run by Bob's son, Greg. It is a fine program for the kid that wants to experience baseball 24/7 (and everything that comes with it !!) during June, July, and August. They'll play 80-90 games and they do live up to their name 'Travelers'. They will play in N.M, KS, MO, TX, CO, and of course all over the state of OK.
Two of their most recent and notable grads are the starting SS at OSU in Stillwater, and also the Cowboys starting 1B/DH. Mercer and Rebel. There are hundreds of others - all the way back to former Ranger of note Monty Fariss. There were some Mike Hargrove connections there at one time, but I don't recall if Grover actually ever played for the Travelers.
Anyway, give it a shot at the open tryouts. It would be an honor and a priviledge to play for The Oklahoma Travelers.
