Dean: Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandon and the family. I have a very good feeling that he will come back stronger then before! I have an idea (but do not know) what y'all have been going through. Four weeks ago Corey had to come out of a game because of elbow pain. We were so fortunate that he only had a slight strain of the ulnar collateral ligament. He has been throwing for over three weeks and is now back up to 100% velocity. He should take the mound again shortly. I assume that since you are going to Ft. Worth that Dr. John Conway is doing the procedure. That is who we dealt with and he is fantastic! (As long as you have the patience to put up with six hour waits...) A note to everyone who reads this thread: there are two principal reasons why the ulnar collateral ligament gets torn. One is overuse and the second is poor mechanics. Dean, I don't disagree that the Forney coaches did not overuse Brandon, but it could have happened some time back by who knows who and that one game against Rockwall just completed the tear. I'm not an expert but Brandon seems to have good mechanics so I'm going with the other by default. Also, overuse leads to bad mechanics; as the pitcher tires his mechanics tend to breakdown. After what I have seen this season from various pitchers breaking down watch the overuse side of it!!! A word of caution: be very careful on how a pitcher learns a new pitch such as a slider. Again it is all about mechanics. The player may get get ideas from other players on how to throw a pitch but chances are something major will get lost in the translation (how good of a communicator is your son, can he teach someone else the correct way to through a complex pitch?). The pitch may be effective against hitters but if the mechanics are wrong then plan on passing "Go", collect your $200 and get ready to payout many, many times that $200. JK
