Elkins 1-7-3 Kempner 2-3-0 WP-Glos, CG, 7 k LP-Taylor, CG, 4 k Game tied at 1 going to bottom of the seventh. C Kelly was HBP then SAC to second by Glos. Pearlman then HBP, Lockwood BB to load the bases. Siler hit a grounder to short who then threw to home to get the force but the throw was just a little off and that's the ballgame.

baseballmom,
Congrats to Carrollton Smith. Its been a tough year for Irving (1-18), but the entire district has been down compared to last year. Last year the top four teams finished at .687 This year, the top four teams are at .521 on the season and the entire district is 37-63 (.370) in non-district. Although Carrollton Smith has most likely clinched another district title (needs one win in last four games), there are 6 teams battling for the other two playoff spots. (6-4, 5-5, 5-5, 4-5, 4-5, and 4-6) The race for 2nd and 3rd will be interesting.

irvingbb,
Thank you for the well wishes. The Trojans have a tremendous tradition to uphold, having won a total 16 distict championships since 1984. In trying to be objective & not too critical, I will offer that some "luck" has been on the side of the Trojans this season. Coaching is great and most of the players are focused on the task at hand, one game at a time.
But, too, I'm a believer in the saying, "The opera ain't over 'til the fat lady sings!"
I hope the Trojans take nothing for granted, and each player will bring his "A game" to each of the remaining matchups. Tues night, against Irving? they lucked out! Too many errors and the showboater nearly cost them! The Trojans bats seemed to have been left in the fieldhouse. The pitching on both teams was great!!
Opinion only, but I see Creekview #2, and Nimitz #3. Who knows? I think we'll see some very good games, tough battles across the district tonight and next week. Good luck to all the teams! As an aside, it's been tough to see Irving High doing so poorly. I'm a grad of Irving High, was there during the Coach Dobbs Dynasty! I've got some great (although bitter sweet) memories of quarter finals against Odessa Permian in Midland. It was a "long", quiet 10 hr. ride home!! And, you may know of the Corver brothers, Clayton and Kelvin, who went on to pro ball, and Alan Lowry, the great UT quarterback that now coaches pro ball.
