Seems I lucked out and my son's summer baseball career is in limbo for the moment between his freshman and sophomore years of college....but I remember in years past driving 5,000 plus miles around the metromess and other states watching him play ball.

I also remember a couple of years ago when he played for the Marshals that he would take his truck and then I'd leave later and take my truck from Keller to McKinney multiple nights a week. Some nights we would end up driving 3 vehicles, as my wife would leave from an appointment and drive to the game.

I remember when he was younger, if there was a break between games at Arc Park, we'd drive home for an hour and then head back to the park.

With gas at $4.00 and Diesel nearly $5 (Both my son's and my truck are diesels), it's gotta be tough.

Yep, times sure have changed. We did much the same thing for years -- both to baseball games and to church 25 minutes away, where we had various volunteer duties with different timeframes.

These days, we take one car as much as possible.

Today, I will make flight reservations from San Antonio to Cincinatti for a baseball tourney in late July (plus car rental reservations too). I shudder to think what our costs will be for that.

Oh yea I am feeling it... bad cry We live out here in ole BOONDOCKS, so it's about 60 miles from everything, and that's a 120mi round trip. Today '09 Son has dblhdr at PESH he an I leave this morning at 945am for game at noon. At 4pm '12 Son has game at FBA so it's a two car weekend into the METROMESS(Sorry I love this new word I am going to be using it A LOT) for us besides I came from work yesterday in Richardson then back to Rockwall for a practice.

What has helped us, about two years ago my wife angel had the brillant idea to go small... traded in the BIG Eddie Bauer Expedition duel (I fought it) We set up the BIG F250 for just the farm and the '09 Son to drive to school...and yepper we bought two 30/mpg cars and cut everything in half including car payments and insurance. But NOW like you said at nearly $4/gal and traveling the way we do I am wondering how we are going to survive!!!...by Eating Foul Balls for Dinner(their not to bad with a little Taco Bell Hot Sauce)crazy I put a little over 11 gallons in yesterday and it was $44+ Just to fill a little car pull_hair I am afraid life as we know it now may change very drastically by next summer. the Frown farmerjohn

I have decided to just let my son play wall ball on the side of the house to avoid the high gas prices...think I can get any scouts out here to take a look at him?

Just drove in from Omaha and it was stated that attendance is down 25,000 from last year! A lot had to be the high gas prices

Once you agree upon the price you and your family must pay for success, it enables you to ignore the minor hurts, the opponent's pressure, and the temporary failures.
