Caught wind of this last night as well. Should be interesting to see 1) how the transfer works 2) to see how he and his other Tiger teammates carry the program for the next couple of years.
If this is all true, they've got an incredible core of young talent!

Should'nt be allowed to happen or everybody will do it.
Was told dad rented apartment in Coppell.
Also was told he would only have to sit out 15 days. The kid was also starting QB as soph at Flower Mounds football team.

I can't imagine how this would fly w/the UIL since we had a similar situation at Marcus several years ago with a Football player and the results were loss of game time and some coaches got into hot water. But,,,,,,,,, in this case the said player's family are/were in the legal business so I would imagine all the i's have been doted and the t's crossed. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Train: Just a thought since I opened this thread thinking it was about a select team or a thread about a Coppell player making a college committment I think I would change the title of this thread to something like: Coppell News-New Student or New Transfer, the word New Signing just sounds a bit like recruiting. Just a thought. Also, for those wondering about the UIL policy here is what the UIL site states: Eligibility for Athletic Contests meet all the requirements above, are less than 19 years old on September 1 preceding the contest or have been granted eligibility based on a disability that delayed their education by at least one year, live with their parents inside the school district attendance zone their first year of attendance (see your school administrator for exceptions), have not moved or changed schools for athletic purposes, have not violated the athletic amateur rule, and were eligible according to the fifteen day rule and the residence rule prior to district certification.

Train, I thought you were one who says "no sophomores make any real difference on varsity"
This kid could not get into the starting lineup at FM thus the reason for transferring. He was also a big disruption in the baseball lockerroom and not a team player.
This is a case of mommy and daddy enabling their son and not being happy with playing time, nothing more nothing less. We wish him nothing but the best and hope that mommy is there for him when something else upsets him or doesn't go his way later in life.

Train: I think you had it right the first time. No need to change the title. BTW - If the FM coach believes the player transfered due to athletic purposes, it will be reviewed by the DEC for a decision on eligibility. This will be an interesting one to watch!

When I heard this news last night my first thought was......mystery solved maybe Train is the transferee's Dad due to all the Flower Mound/Coppell talk over the years? Is someone/some school getting "railroaded" on this one??????

It's a good thing mommy runs the Tigers or we might have a new summer team too.

I wonder if the other sibling brothers of this player also enrolled in Coppell schools yesterday?
If athletic reasons were not the reason for the move I would think all would have enrolled.

Pantherdad,
With mommy's involvement he is assurred of getting to play. Without it he might get unhappy and have to change teams.

I personally think, he is one of the Top 2009 players both as a pitcher and as a position player. What is wrong with positioning yourself for the future. If he was not getting playing time with Flower Mound it does not hurt the team. If he can help Coppell so be it.

11sdad You crack me up! BAAAAAAACK: Up and leaving a High School team midseason then going across the tracks to a district rival just doesn't sound good no matter how you spin it. What ever happened to the term "finish what you started"? If things weren't working out for the player (starting/not starting)then why didn't he just finish it out then cash out? Guess that is a question only they can answer.... hope it works out for them....

After watching Coppell the last few games they could use him. They will be losing a lot of quality players to graduation. If he was not playing, what difference does it make?
