I appologize if this has been covered, but how do they determine who plays who in the UIL playoffs and the format of the playoffs (1 vs. 3 games, Friday & Saturday vs. Thurs., Friday & Sat.).

The matchups are set by the UIL -- you might be able to find a bracket on their website....#1 from each district gets a bye...one district's #2 plays another's #3 in the first round, etc. Concerning the format of the series, the coaches often meet to discuss terms -- and there are 10-11 decisions to make....where, when, how many, umps, the baseball to use, etc.....and the coaches get creative when they are unable to meet in person to flip coins ("is the zipcode of Turkey Feet, Texas even or odd?"). Most coaches are willing to play a 3-game series....many prefer to find a nice neutral site (like a nearby college field). All in all, it's an exciting time for baseball fans, eh?

The playoff brackets are posted on the UIL web site. In the case of McKinney North district 11-4A champs, they would have a bye the first week and then play the winner of district 10-4A runner up (2nd place) and district 9-4A 3rd place.
