BWD, sometimes a team will draft a player thats highly committed to college, in the hope's of signing him before the deadline.
Which they did.
Sometimes late rounder's still get a good size signing bonus.

Example:
The only one that signed wasn’t a huge surprise, as RHP Brett Hunter (Moorpark, Calif,/Moorpark HS, a seventh-round selection of the Oakland Athletics, inked a deal worth a reported $1.1 million. Hunter was expected to be a first-round pick in the spring, but he missed most of his 2008 junior season due to injury. He pitched well this summer for a collegiate USA Baseball squad and agreed on a contract offer not long before Friday’s deadline. Baseball America reported that it is the largest contract ever given to a seventh-round selection.

Congrats Jersey Dad and Q! I moved Jeff into his dorm today at UNC and I could not help but think about you and Q. I was looking forward to getting to know you and your son even better over the next few years. I was also looking forward to seeing my son and your son on the same team. But I am so happy for you guys. I wish Q the best of luck and I hope to see him in the show one day. Jeff was bummed out when he heard the news. But he said "I dont blame him one bit. But I sure wish he was here." All I could say was , me too! Good luck buddy.

Coach May, you don't know how much I would have enjoyed watching our boys play together. From a selfish POV, I think my wife and I are going to miss the college experience as much as Jerseyson. I guess we are just going to have to adopt some of the HSBBW college kids so we can follow them for the next few years.

your sonm played for the tri state arsenal correct. i live in southern nj(willingboro). and played against Quinton. I want to know was it a long travel to flemington newjersey(where the tryouts are at) and is really worth it. I really wanna play competetive summer ball and get some exposure from college and pro scouts.

Baseball+Work=Dreams,

Yes he spent four years with the Arsenal program. He had a great experience with the team and I would recommend it for anyone that has the desire and talent to play.

I will try to send you a PM with some contact information and try to answer your other questions.
