Ok, I'll admit it, I lurk here, too, once in a while...
And I want to report that I actually got to see the Former Observer's son play for the Kane County Cougars before the FO did!!!!!
Not only is he a doll and incredibly polite, but he is very impressive behind the plate. He threw out a FAST base runner ON A CURVE BALL. Totally impressive!
Good luck to all of your sons as they pursue what just about every red-blooded American boy dreams of...
Please let it be noted that this is my 1000 post. I was so hoping that it would have been posted on an important thread. My wish was granted!

FO,....ROF,..............ummmmm,...perhaps its NOT such a good idea for shortstopmom to hit the reply button after 10:00pm at night, when she has only one eye open and turns into a self proclaimed pumpkin!
I think I will tiptoe backwards and check on all the other blabbering I did on other posts last night! If you will excuse me for the moment,....I have a feeling I have some spell check editing to do, pronto.

FO, isn't that just one of baseball's well-trodden paths? Big hit followed by some O-fers. Like the one where the guy who makes the spectacular play comes up to bat first when the sides change. Or the really tense AB goes full, followed by at least two foul balls. There's a script somewhere, I swear it!
"They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance." --- Terry Pratchett
Orlando and FO, The trodden path is same for pitchers. All strikes one game, next can't find the zone.
As I have no team news to report I too am enjoying the updates.
DK settling into a routine. Some tough rehab one day, next day a little lighter. Strength tests came back ok, he hasn't lost strength in arm leading them to believe it is only tendinitous.
MORE CORE excercises prescribed, maybe the feet srains (last february right and this month left) caused him to throw more with arm? I don't think he was ever all that deligent with his core excercises.
Dave's roommate is a later round pick out of HS. I told him to be helpful to a HS player away from home for the first time on his own in rookie camp. He has to get up at 6:30 (roommate) to be at the field early for complex ball. Dave never got up at 6:30 in 3 years at school!
All there is to report.

We just got back from Staten Island yesterday watching the SI Yankess. Ryan pulled a muscle in his back the Sat before we left so he did not throw but will only miss one start. We had a good time. I will have some pics soon.
Let me highlight an episode. The Blues Brothers were at the 8/3 game doing their show. They are from WI and as we were going into the stadium they were in the parking lot, being the bashful guy I am, I struck up a conversation and found out I had the same WI party attitude as they did. When all was said and done Mary and I were in the back seat of the Blues Brothers car when the made the entrance on to the field. As we passed the SI dugout I stuck my head out the window and yelled at Ryan.........the face I got in return was worth the trip. The car stopped the Blues Bros opened the doors for us and we sat on the hood of the car as they opened the show in front of 7000 screaming fans. There we were, on vaca to see our son play MILB baseball, and we on the field, on the jumbotron at his game, and part of the show. He was so freaked out that his teammates pulled the old bubble on the cap trick and it stayed there for 3 innings.
