Well now i would like to recap the first day in pro ball, it all started about 5:15AM when i got up, took a shower and got dressed. Headed to the field at about 545. Then we went to the locker room( which is really nice since its the big leaguer's spring training complex) and got changed. Then we went to the players lounge for breakfast. after that i headed down to the field where i threw a Bullpen and then did conditioning. After that i watched BP. Then the pitchers discussed strategy. Now the one thing i have noticed about pro ball is that their is a difficulty communicating with the Dominicans. ( if i were back in high school i would have taken spanish instead of french now that i look back at it) The funny thing about this though, is the coaches. when their giving instructions, it takes us twice the amount of time to do everything because the coaches have to explain everything in English, then say it all again in Spanish. After the discussion, i went back to the clubhouse and got ready for the game at 10:30. Just so happens that on my first day, we have the longest road trip we have!! It was all of an hour long! At least i can say one good thing about the Arizona League, at least the trips arent long, Sure its hot, but not that bad really. So i was gunning all of our pitchers during the game, and kept track of that, and we ended up beating the cubs 9-7 in 10 innings. Then we came back, took showers and all of that good stuff, ends up, our days end around 130-2pm everyday, so its not too rough. Well im out, until next time, later!

Shane,

Thanks for the report, it's fun to hear about what happened on your first day. That's a pretty early morning wakeup, isn't it? I've heard from some parents of new pro players that their sons wish they knew Spanish to communicate with some of their teammates.

Keep the updates coming, and good luck!

Please keep posting - this is great for those of us who don't have a clue on the life of a player like yourself. Best of luck!!!!!

To our military men, women and families - You are all awesome - that flag is yours and I thank you for the opportunity for giving me the honor of removing my cap prior to every baseball game I see.
