Shane - Wish you the best of luck - just getting there was quite an accomplishment. Work on hitting your spots, and developing your "goto" pitch. You're going to do fine.

Don't get discouraged because you had some rough innings. That happens to everyone when they first start out. Most of the time that's because we all have a tendency to try to hard to impress everyone and start throwing outside of their own envelope. Stick with what got you there.

Good Luck

Why you havent heard from me? maybe because we play night games now,and i have been quite busy.As for Mr. Team Florida, i'm not even gonna comment on you, ever since i left your team, you've done nothing but try to put me down. So please stay out of my business i'll stay out of yours. Good luck to you and Clete, but i choose not to associate with people who are negative. I've been working my butt off out here, and i HAVE posted on here, less than a week and a half ago i made an update. And as far as my stats, yes they suck this year, but hey, the way i see it, you have to take a step back to take a step forward, not everyone is a "cant miss" prospect. I have been, and will continue to work my butt off to realize my dream of playing for an extended amount of time in the MLB. Thats the measure of my resolve, so say what you will, but i WILL be in the MLB one day, so take my stats as you will this year. All i can say is i'll see you next year! Best of luck to you all!

Shane, Keep working hard and enjoy every day, as you are getting the chance to work for your dream.

Don't worry about some jealous adult picking on you. You can look at it this way; as soon as you threw your first pitch in Arizona, you had more professional experience than he has. Smile

Shane (AHSpitcher),

Great post. I was a bit offended by the implication in baseball1's post, but wondered if I was misinterpreting, and decided to let it stand without comment. I am very proud of you for being a professional pitcher at the age of 18, and very impressed with the qualities you have shown as a person through your posts here, as well as your conduct in interviews I've read elsewhere. I think it's just great that you share news and stories with us when things are going great, as well as when you hit the inevitable bumps in the road. We're very proud of you, Shane! You have the resolve and the personality to be a great success in baseball, as well as in life. Thanks for sharing your very exciting "freshman" year in pro baseball with us!
applaude

Shane,
I like your outlook on your future. Best of luck, buddy.

Shane:
Despite whatever Baseball1 meant by his post, you have a LOT of people out here pulling for you. Far far more supporters than small-minded naysayers who revel in the inevitable struggles of a young prospect.

You are right to dismiss and ignore him; your maturity and wisdom are beyond your years and will no doubt play a large part in your success.

I went to the A's/Rangers game last night to see my son pitch. I didn't get to see Shane pitch but I got to see quite a few runs scored. Shane's attitude is great. There are a lot of "can't miss" prospects that are getting hammered at every level. The ones that can't handle it will be weeded out.

Shane,

What a fine young man you have become with such a level head already at your age! Some people as we have seen never to get to that level! Keep doing what you're doing and we will all see you in the MLB. Thanks for sharing all your stories and we're pushing for you! Craig Italiano is a friend of my sons and another fine example of a great young man. You keep good company!Good luck and take care!

Shane, his name is Kevin Bunch. He was the second pitcher that came in against you last night. Lansford and Italiano seem to be great young men. Kevin is going to instructs in Sept. I'm sure we'll drive out there a couple times. Keep working hard and have fun. Good things will happen for you.

Thanks Shane. He didn't have his usual velocity that night for some reason but he said he felt good. That's the way it goes somethimes I guess. Again, good luck to you this fall. I'm sure I'll get to see you pitch, as often as we drive out there.

Shane,

Very nice to see a young man act in such an adult manner (Baseball1 comment). Very disappointing to see an adult act in such a childish manner.

Your attitude is what will keep you up when your down and ultimately get you success.

Good luck

Shane - just read thru this thread and want you to know you should keep your head up. That seemed rather cruel to see what baseball1 posted on his last post. From what I've seen, everyone who makes it to the minors has alot of adjusting to do and their stats do seem to go down for awhile. One of my son's teammates made it to the Oakland A's Canadian team this summer and I know his stats went down big time but he's coming along now and has been asked to stay on for the fall too. Our newspaper follows the kids from our area that are in the minors and even guys like Chris Lubanski went down for a while and sooner or later they start coming up again. I see he's having a good season now but he's been there for awhile now. Looks like it happens to everyone and you've made it further than most can even dream of. Keep your head up! and be proud of your accomplishments. Way to go!
