Well, it was Fungo's idea (topic) so I thought I would be the first to post.
Oh, you all remember me telling you after Dave's first start this year he tripped on a rock and sprained his right ankle? You all remember he just got a bike?
Appears he was having trouble with the bike seat and asked his host if they had a wrench. He went into the garage couldn't find the light (he hates to ask anyone anything), decided he had enough light, fixed the seat and then twisted his left ankle over something.
Xrays showed no definite break, but the doctor saw something (maybe a hairline fracture), he is in pain, so tomorrow he has an MRI. If it is just sprained he will have PT, if broken he most likely will head home for the summer.
Manager is not happy. Neither is mom and dad. Mad

Ouch. I hope for the best for David, and a short course of PT.

TPM ...

Now that isn't very nice news !!!! And it certainly does sound uncomfortable.

Hoping for good news tomorrow after the MRI ... good thoughts and prayers coming his way from the Left Coast.

Oh, no!

If it is a break, perhaps it's better that it was found after something innocuous like this than after the pounding of a few games pitched.

But he's being taken care of.

Oh no! What a way to begin his pro career! Hopefully it is minor and heals quickly. Who would have guessed a dark garage might lead to his first stint on the DL? noidea

A break may be better than a sprain-- a severe sprain can stay with you forever

Or falling off of your bike!!!!! Now Mr. TPM says if he had his truck he wouldn't have hurt his foot!!!! pull_hair

No news of any MRI, though DK is feeling a bit better. He has managed to find rides from players.

He did get paid today, so that was the topic of conversation. Smile

Dave has MRI on Monday. Since the team travels he will remain behind with another player who dislocated his shoulder the other night. He was a bit disappointed in the fact that they were headed to PA to play at Penn State's field, certainly one of the best facilities in the league. On the other hand, he is looking forward to a little "chill" time.

Oh, man, that is tough. Sending positive healing thoughts.

A week ago we were listening online to son's summer league game up in Washington state. (My new evening routine between 6:40 and 10!)

Game was going great when the announcer described an injury that my son sustained live as it was happening, along with "they're carrying him off the field now; looks like his knee and appears to be a very serious injury with a lot of pain."

The first time your son has to get medical attention away from home when you're not there. Do some of you remember that situation?

Anyway, he's lucky, no tears, kneecap dislocation and sprain. So, with ice, ibuprophen, physical therapy and a new brace, he was back in it last night, DHing. Seems a little soon to me, but ... I am impressed that he has made the very adult decision of taking control of his own medical care decisions (hard to let go, but I respect his saying he is ready).

24 hours after the injury, we started looking for the silver lining. Besides the grace of his new-found maturity, he also made the important discovery that he needs to be doing specific strengthening for that knee from now on.

Rough start for DK. We'll be hoping to hear what his silver lining is.

When will DK know the results of his MRI? How is his foot/ankle feeling?
