Hi Guys,
I need some information. How is a prospective player entered into the MLB Draft? What are the procedures? College Son (freshman) has been approached by 2 different scouts this fall, filled out paperwork....past that I have no clue? What's next?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The player does not enter the draft himself. His name is turned into MLB for consideration, either by a team or the MLB area scout, but that does not necessarily mean a pick. There are approximately 1500 slots available. 30 teams by 50 rounds = 1500 if teams remain in that long.

What's next is that your son has a good season and possibly get a chance to play pro ball!

Another aspect here since he is in college if he is is in a NCAA program---he cannot be drafted until after his junior year (NCAA Regulations)--- or unless he meets certain age requirements

Thank You for the input. He's JUCO, so I guess he would be eligible. 91 mph lefty with upside.I agree on both the College Career and the Good Season. If he works hard on both sides...let the cards fall where they will!
