His contract has to be approved by the commissioner's office. Remember last year's 149th pick Jeff Samardzijs originally had a contract for 7 million something and agreed for 250K?
Should be interesting what it really ends up to be in the end.

it doesn't need to be approved in as much as it needs to be blessed. the tigers can do what they want as some teams have in the past. it will be interesting to see how this shakes out. allthough if he signed isn't it a deal? that clearly takes some pressure off the player, you get alot of chances with that kind of money.

After you sign, your contract HAS to be approved by MLB. Especially since he is asking for a MLB contract. If you look on BA, his bonus amount is listed as 3.5M.

I am sure Price's deal was done a while ago and they were awaiting the final hour, plus gives him a chance to rest up. I would imagine same for the other pitchers.

Had the pleasure of seeing both Porcello and Smoker pitch in '05. Two very fine arms indeed. Spizzle beat Porcello's team in Jupiter and Smoker bested ABD in East Cobb. Glad to see these boys get their due.
