If anyone has any information on tryouts for European pro leagues, please post them here. I am aware of a tryout for the Israeli Baseball League some time in December in Florida.

Thanks!
HC

The Brussels Kangaroos seek a versatile and talented baseball dude, and recent college grad, to contribute to an up-n-coming program in Europe’s capital. All need not apply.

We seek a strong fielder (middle infield preferred) with a solid bat who can also pitch 4-5-6 strong innings each week. If you’re right-handed with pull-pop, you’ll hit a plenty of dingers over our 290ft green monster in left.

But we want more than game skills. Our ambition is to create a winning baseball culture for our 4 junior teams, too, so we want somebody who can coach and likes kids. (Previous guest Kangaroo players have gone on to coach at Haverford and Hofstra and Pomona.)

Your reward? Free round-trip airfare, room & board, plus $???? (depending on camp enrollment), and 6-7 months of real life in a exciting city that has over 1,000 kinds of beer and a United Nations roster of beautiful women.

The 2007 senior Kangaroos posted their most wins ever in Belgium's Preimer league (top division).

Another reason to play in Belgium.

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB119638625032008897.html

The writer is 15year Brussels Kangaroo veteran John Miller. Miller will manage the 2008 Kangaroos.

There is also a video online at the WSJ to support this story (featuring some Kangaroo players) but one must establish some sort of "membership" to view it. We made this pilgrimage late last season. One striking thing about the experience is the semi-strenuous obstacle course on front lawn of the monastery's on-site bistro.

Trust me, a couple of these will slow your time waaaaaayyyy down.
